Mark your calendars for the MASC Tournament - April 5-6
This is to confirm acceptance into the Mid-American Soccer Classic the weekend of April 5-6. Please mark your calendars now, and let the coaches know if you have conflicts. If you have a conflict for the entire weekend, I might be able to get guest players from one of the other STAR Boys U10 teams.

Now that we've finally been able to solidify most all of the main activities, please be sure to to double-check the calendar online to confirm dates, times and locations. You should be able to check out both the calendar as well as the schedule to confirm key details.

Parents Updates: July, 31, 2007
FIRST PRACTICE
We have a number of boys either out on vacation or attending the STAR camp, so we will have our first practice this coming Friday at 6:00pm. We will go until 7:10pm. Our practice will be held at McKelvey Field, which is near the frisbee golf course in Winton Woods. I will forward a link to field location in a follow-up email.
For practice, please have your boys bring a size 4 ball, and a water bottle with their name on it (or Gatorade). I highly recommend a white or light colored t-shirt as well, and of course, shin guards/soccer shoes.
PRACTICE NIGHTS GOING FORWARD
The club has confirmed that Wednesdays and Fridays will indeed be our practice/training nights for the fall (in addition to the occasional Saturday). I have received confirmation that Tom Eckart will be our age group trainer. Location is still TBD. I understand that our training times with the club might vary as well, As soon as I get a confirmation, I will let you know.
TOURNAMENTS THIS FALL
We are looking to once again stay local for the fall season for tournament play.
The three tournaments I've targeted include the Corpus Christi (Labor Day) and the Forest Park Invitational (weekend before Halloween). Please let me know of conflicts for either of these weekends now so that I can target guest players as soon as possible.
FEES
As I predicted, the club has indicated that there are more charges than I originally calculated and shared with each of you at our parents meeting. At minimum, I anticipate an additional $25-$35 per player. However, I will play the float for now, and will look to collect those additional fees later in the season. Hopefully, our fundraising efforts might mitigate the impact.

Spring Vacation: Let me know of Conflicts!
Please let me know what time frames you will be unavailable during the spring vacation weeks. I found that both Wyoming and Finneytown are off on spring break from 4/2-4/6, returning to school on 4/9, while Winton Woods and St. Barts are off on spring break from 4/6-4/13, returning to school on 4/16. Please e-mail me with your conflicts.

March Schedule Posted for Spring Training and Practices
I have posted the schedule for spring training sessions and practices for March and portions of April. You can click on the Schedule link at left to get a listing of the events or the Calendar link to print out an entire calendar. Our practices will be held at the Grove, which is located behind the new fire house on Winton Road near Brentwood Bowl.
We will be having two sessions with Wil Cagle, Director of Coaching for STAR Soccer Club, jointly with one of the other U9 teams. Please note that the starting times for these sessions will be different.
Finally, the club will be sponsoring a series of Youth Training sessions on Saturdays. I do not have the details of these sessions, but they will be coordinated by Jack Hermans, former men's Head Coach at Xavier University. Jack does a great job with the youth sessions.
