Rams Advance with win over Carver
The Starmount Rams advance to the 2nd round of the NCHSAA 2A state playoffs with a 24-20 win over the Carver Yellowjackets. The Rams (10-1) will now travel to Denver (NC) to face the East Lincoln Mustangs.

Wilkes Central defeats the Rams for Mountain Valley Conference Championship
Wilkes Central ended the Rams' string of 4th consecutuve Mountain Valley 1A/2A Conference championships with a 14-7 win in Moravian Falls. The Rams fall to 9-1 overall and 8-1 in the MVAC.
The Eagles took a 7-0 lead right before the half when Victor Williams took a handoff on 4th and 5 from their own 45 yard line and darted 55-yards untouched for the score.
After a scoreless 3rd quarter, the Eagles added a touchdown on the first play of the 4th quarter. Cameron Williams scored on a 3-yard run to increase the lead to 14-0.
On the ensuing kickoff, the Rams' James Watson gave the Rams great field position as he returned the ball deep into Eagle territory. The Rams drove down the field behind Watson, Chaston Martin, and Hunter Myers. Will Simpson got the Rams on the board with a 1-yard run. Parker Gunnell added the extra point to cut the Eagle lead to 14-7.
The Rams got one more shot at tying the game as the Eagles fumbled the ball. The Rams' drive was ended on an Int by Wilkes Central.

The Starmount Rams defeated North Wilkes 40-6 in a Mountain Valley 1A/2A Conference match-up. The Rams improve to 8-0 overall and 6-0 in the MVAC.

Rams defeat Elks
The Rams defeated Elkin by a score of 44-0 in the annual Battle of the Bridge contest. The Rams improve to 6-0 overall and 4-0 in the Mountain Valley 1A/2A Conference.
Sergio Sarinara started the scoring for the Rams on a 70-yard run in the first quarter. Parker Gunnell added a 32-yard field goal as the Rams took a 10-0 lead at the half.
After the halftime break, it was all Starmount. Chaston Martin scored 3 straight touchdowns. James Watson returned a punt for a score. Will Simpson added the last score.
Martin led the Rams with 166 yards on 13 carries and won the MVP honors. Sarinara finished with 97 yards on 4 carries.
Saturday, September 15
Rams defeat Huskies on Homecoming
The Starmount Rams defeated the Ashe County Huskies 28-0 on Homecoming. The Rams improve to 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the Mountain Valley 1A/2A Conference.
The Rams jumped out to an early 14-0 lead behind a 7-yard TD run by Chaston Martin and a 27-yard TD pass from Trey Money to Will Lambert. Parker Gunnell added the extra points.
In the second quarter, Starmount increased their lead to 21-0 when Will Simpson ran 60-yards for a score.
Starmount tacked on another score in the third quarter as Samuel Stone scored on a 1-yard keeper to make the final score 28-0.
The Ram defense had their second shutout off the 2012 season and limited the Huskies to under 150 total yards. Starmount rolled up 331 rushing yards among 9 rushers. Simpson led the Rams with 4 carries for 86 yards. Joe Watson added 77 yards on 6 carries. Other top rushers were: Hunter Myers (9-52), Brian King (7-52), and Chaston Martin (9-44).
Starmount will travel to Elkin on 9/21 to take on the Buckin' Elks in the Battle of the Bridge.

Rams wins 2012 UNIFI BOWL
The Starmount Rams won the 2012 UNIFI BOWL over county rival Forbush by a score of 49-0. The Rams improve to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in the Mountain Valley 1A/2A Conference. Chaston Martin and James Watson were named co-MVPs of the game for Starmount.

Rams rally to defeat East Surry
The Starmount Rams rallied from a 7-0 deficit late in the 4th quarter to tie the game and force overtime. Chaston Martin took the handoff with just 3 minutes left in the game and raced 84-yards for the touchdown. Parker Gunnell added the extra point to tie the game and force overtime.
East Surry won the toss and chose defense. After two short running plays, QB Samuel Stone faked a handoff to the fullback and raced untouched into the end zone for a 7-yard score. Gunnell's extra point gave the Rams a 14-7 lead.
The Ram defense held the Cardinals out of the end zone for four plays to win the non-conference match-up.
East Surry took advantage of an early Ram fumble to take a 7-0 lead in the 1st quarter. QB Jon Dickenson hit Jeremy Gilley with a 29-yard pass for a score. Antonio Mata made the PAT.
Martin led the Rams with 141 yards on 8 carries.
Starmount improves to 2-0 after beating Mount Airy 30-14 last week. The Rams will start Mountain Valley 1A/2A Conference play when county rival Forbush comes to Boonville for the annual UNIFI BOWL showdown.

He had 27 tackles, 4 pass break-ups, and 2 INTs. “Will was a pleasant surprise last fall that gave our defense much more flexibility because he became a solid corner. We expect a great year from him and his leadership will be needed.” JAMES WATSON (WR/DB, 5-10, 165, 4.6) ? He had 43 tackles. “James has tremendous speed and developed in the secondary. He should be solid in all three phases of the game.” LUKE WAGONER (OL/DL, 6-5, 245, 5.2) ? “Luke has all the tools to play and it’s his time to play like it.
