Meeting was called to order at 8:15 pm by Grace Shanower

Approximately 20 people representing 9 charters were present

April minutes were read and approved

  2010 meeting time changes:

    April 2010 Association meeting at 4pm (10U & 12U Coaches’ meeting will follow)

    May 2010 Association meeting at 6pm (14U Coaches’ meeting will follow)

    Second reading of new rules.

    Tournament Rules - Passed

    The 18U teams will again be scheduled to play on Tuesday and Thursday nights.

    Northwest will be conducting a 10U, 12U, and 14U on July 17th, 18th, and 19th.
    The cost will be $225, and will be restricted to Rec. and Rec All-Star Teams.

Meeting was called to order at 7:05pm by Grace Shanower

31 people representing 19 charters were present

January' minutes were read with 2 corrections

Treasurer's report - $3,813.63

Old Business:  None

New Business:

    First reading of new rules.

    It was announced that former Perry commissioner Tom West had passed away January 25th 2009

    Lynn has indicated that he has 10 to 12 new people interested in umpiring.

    No play date forms handed out for 10U, 12U, and 14U teams.  Ron indicated that he is only
    taking 3 no play dates this year.

    Representatives for Honey Baked Ham came in to do a presenation on their fundraising program.

    Brent Metzger talked about the scholarship in honor of Terry Murphy.  He indicated that there would
    be two $500 scholarships.  They will be finalizing everything at the meeting to be held on March 22nd.
    The deadline for girls to submit for consideration is June 30th, with the committee deciding on the
    two girls to be done by the end of July.

    Mike Perez would like a 1x1 logo of every organization to be put on the website

    A check was turned in for the Fairless Charter.

    At this point there are 34 10U teams, 40 12U teams, and 28U 14U teams.  These figures do not
    include the Wadsworth, Minerva, or Northwest organizations.

    2009 Tournament dates are:

        10U: June 18th - 21st
        12U: June 25th - 28th
        18U: July 17th - 19th
        14U: July 23rd - 26th

    No tournament fields have been decided on at this time.

    Dover is holding a tournament for 8U, 10U, and 12U teams on July 31st, August 1st and 2nd.
    Cost is $250.  For more information contact Anthony Bingham at 330-447-2601.

    Strasburg will be holding a 18U fall league in September and October.  The games will be played on
    Sundays only.  Games will start at 1:00pm and consist of doubleheaders.  Cost will be $50 per kid, and
    the league will follow OHSAA guidelines.

    Next Meeting scheduled for March 22nd at 7:00pm at the Greentown Athletic Club.

Stark County Minutes from January 25th, 2009

Meeting was called to order at 7:07pm by Grace Shanower

New Business:

    The organization had a moment of silence in honor of Terry Murphy.

    It was announced that former Perry commissioner Tom West had passed away this morning.

    Lynn has indicated that he will need new umpires again this season.  He is especially looking for young adults
    in the 16 - 18 age range to umpire the younger groups.  He has indicated that his umpire classes will be held on
    following Sundays, from 2pm to 5pm, at Grand Slam.  March 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th, April 5th, 19th, 26th and
    May 3rd.

    A motion was made to put ads for new umpires in the paper - cost $500 to $550    Motion approved.

    Mike Perez has indicated that he is putting a new link on the website.  The link is to be called:
    leaguelineup  and it is to include the entire schedule for the year.  Mike is also asking for the
    commissioners to provide him with maps to their fields so that he can get them on the website.

    A new ruling will probably be coming down from ASA  in the next couple of years that will require
    brackground checks for all coaches and umpires.

    Also, travel teams will need at least one coach to be ACE certified starting this year.  For further information
    concerning ACE certification, go to the ASA website.

    An ASA State 'B' 14U Tournament will be held in Dayton, OH this year.  This tournament is open to all roster
    teams.  No travel teams, or travel players will be allowed to participate.

    Mark Abbuhl was elected 2nd Vice President in charge of rules.

    Motion was accepted to allow additional teams from Wadsworth, 10U, in addition to their 12U and 14U teams.
    Northwest, 12U, in addition to their 14U team.  Dover, maybe a 10U and 18U, in addition to their 12U and 14U teams.

    League play will begin May 6th/7th for 10U and 12U teams.  June 3rd for 14U and 18U teams.

    A new tournament rule will be introduced:  If a girl has not been substituted in by the top of the 4th inning, in
    order to play her 12 consecutive outs, the offending team will forfeit the game.

    Umpire fees will be 10U/12U - $35.  14U/18U - $35 each umpire or $45 for one umpire.

    Team fees will be $75 per team.  $65 per team will go to the league for expenses.  $10 per team will be put into a
    fund for a scholarship to honor Terry Murphy.  A committee has been formed to determine how the money will distributed.
    Also, $305 has been collected so far in donations that will be used for the scholarship.
    The committee members are:  Brent Metzger (Strasburg), Tom Monter (Louisville), Gary Bonam (East Canton),
    Scott Lechner (Richville), Nykole Zimmer (Navarre), Ken Wilzoch (Plain), and Rick Annen (Independent).

    East Canton will be hosting a Memorial Tournament on April 18th and 19th for 10U teams.  Cost will be $150.  If
    interested call Gary Bonam at 330-488-6317

    Perry will be hosting a 12U Tournament on May 2nd and 3rd.  Cost is $200.  They are also hosting a 14U tournament
    on May 23rd and 24th.  Cost is $200.  Both tournaments are restricted to roster teams.  For further information
    call Mark Crew at 330-478-4636.

    The following is the meeting schedule for the remainder of the year.  All meetings are held at the Greentown Athletic
    Club, starting at 7:00pm, unless otherwise defined.

    February 22nd - No play date forms for 10U and 12U teams will be passed out.

    March 22nd - No play date forms for 10U and 12U teams MUST be turned in to Ron Worrell.  No play date forms for 10U and
                12U teams will be passed out.

    April 26th - 10U coaches report at 4:00pm to get schedule and make necessary changes.  6:00pm rules meeting for all 10U
                and 12U coaches.  7:00pm 12U coaches get schedules and make necessary changes.  No play date forms for 14U
                and 18U teams MUST be turned in to Ron Worrell.

    May 17th - 14U and 18U coaches report at 6:00pm to get schedule and make necessary changes, along with rules meeting. 
              Normal meeting will take place immediately following 14U/18U scheduling. 

    June 28th

    July 26th

    August 23rd

    September 27th


    Next Meeting scheduled for February 22nd at 7:00pm at the Greentown Athletic Club.

New Business: Grace asked about having an appreciation dinner for the league.  It would consist of each organization’s commissioners/spouses, coaches/spouses, along with umpires/spouses, board member/spouses.  Grace would like to have a count no later than SEPTEMBER 14, 2008.  The dinner would be on September 28, 2008 at 5:30 pm at the Greentown Athletic Club.                           

Next meeting scheduled for August 24th at 7:00 pm at the Greentown Athletic club.   Meeting adjourned at 8:15pm

There was a meeting of the Executive Committee.

All Officers were present for this meeting. 

Old Business:  None

  • We talked about the problems of not having a roster for team(s) that got to play this year.  If you don’t turn in a roster you won’t receive a schedule next year. 
  • Please bring new proposed rules in writing to the September get together.  We can then plan for new rules in January, 2009 season.  We will discuss new rules submitted at the January, 2009 meeting.

Meeting was called to order at 7:15 pm by President Grace Shanower

 New Business: 

·         18-U Tournament draw will be held July 13, at 5:00 pm at Mason Field.  Cost will be $175 per team.

·         14-U Tournament draw will be held July 20, at 5:00 pm at Mason Field.  Cost will be $175 per team.

 ·         Perry will be running a Fall Ball League starting in August.  Sign-ups will begin the second week of July.  Cost will be $550 per team with uniforms, $650 per team without uniforms.  12U teams will play on Saturday, 14u on Sundays.  The league will consist of 6 weeks of double headers, followed by a 1 week single elimination tournament.  For more information go to:  www.phbsa.com or contact Regis Perry at 330-478-8777.
