Silver Spring Youth Baseball Association: Welcome

All-Star tryouts will be held on Sunday, June 3rd 2012.

Players interested in participating (ages 8, 9, 10, 11, 12) MUST attend the tryout in order to be considered for a team. Exceptions will only be allowed by written notification in advance to the SSYBA commissioner. Please send these notifications to jcolosimo@comcast.net.

Our tryout schedule is as follows:

• 8 year olds Field 7 1:00pm - 2:00pm
• 9 year olds Field 8 2:00pm - 3:00pm
• 10 year olds Field 8 1:00pm - 2:00pm
• 11/12 year olds Field 7 2:00pm - 4:00pm

PLEASE ARRIVE 15 MINUTES BEFORE YOUR SCHEDULED TRYOUTS.

During the All-Star tryouts, players may be asked to hit, field, run bases, throw, etc. Head Coaches from each division will be evaluating the players on both performance at tryouts as well as observations and feedback from the regular season. After the tryout, the coaches will rank each player and submit that list to their division VP. The commissioner, division VP, and selected head coach will select the team rosters. If selected, players will be contacted about All-Stars immediately after Championship Sunday (June 10, 2012).

The total number of teams as well as selected tournaments for play will be determined based on the number of players that tryout and their availability for tournament play.

All-Star selection is an honor for any player and the level of play and the practice time is considerably more demanding than the regular season. Before you commit, please submit any issues with your child’s schedule for attending practices and games throughout June and most of July to your regular season coach. Different age level teams may participate in different tournaments so the beginning and ending dates will be different for each team and may not be available at the time of tryouts.
