Team Owner & LB James McDonald Looks to Finish 2007 Undefeated
Wolverines Beat the Dragons 40-20 to finish the Regular Season with a perfect 10-0 record!

We did it! The Wolverines are off and running toward their 5th consecutive championship game!  We finished the regular season with a perfect record. The only undefeated Wolverine team in franchise history!

Special Thanks to Negail Dixon for all of your assistance to the Coaching Staff!

Game #1 Recap:
March 10th, 2007 opened the 2007 regular season with a 55-0 blowout of the Gulf Coast Rams. The Wolverines scored on offense, defense, and special teams while holding the Rams to only 1 first down throughout the (GCFA) National Conference contest.  The Rams will have revenge on their minds as they will face the Wolverines again on April 21 at Barnett Stadium.

Game #2 Recap:
March 17, 2007 A tough Galveston Riptide team managed to crack the Wolverine defense with a 5yd touchdown pass but eventually lost to the Wolves by a score of 28-6.  It was a hard hitting game with big plays from the Wolverine offense.

Game #3 Recap:
March 24, 2007 The Wolverines defeated a tough Texas Express opponent 26-14.  The Wolverines stormed out of the gate with an 18-0 lead in the first quarter but the Express dug their heels in and managed to turn the momentum by returning an interception for a touchdown.   The big play gave the Express new energy and it was a battle to the end. A tough Wolverine running game and a determined Wolverine defense managed to preserve the victory for our home opener.

Game #4 Recap:
March 31, 2007  The Wolverines won by forfeit 6-0 against the Greenspoint Panthers.

Game #5 Recap:
April, 14, 2007 The Wolverines won 8-3.  Our biggest test to date was a very determined Houston Dragons opponent.  The Dragons presented the Wolverines with the unprecedented pressure of being behind on the scoreboard for 4 quarters: The Dragons scored a well executed field goal in the first quarter and shut down the Wolverines high power offense for 58 minutes of the 60 minute contest.  The Dragons played smashmouth football on offense and defense. With our backs to the wall and time running down to only 3 minutes, the Wolverine defense mangaged to force turnovers in two consecutive drives within a 2 minute span. First, LB Johnathan Baldwin intercepted an ill advised pitch from a running back who was being taken down in the backfield.  On the next defensive series less than a minute later.  LB Keith McCoy pounced on a ball sprung from at least 6 determined Wolverine defenders smashing the RB in the backfield.

With less than two minutes remaining in the game, outstanding perserverence was finally rewarded to Wolverine QB Starsky Long.  Throughout the game, poise and accuracy from Long still resulted in dropped passes at crucial times.  In the end, Long was undaunted and showed his champion heart: with a defender smashing him from the blindside, Starsky ripped a perfect bullet pass 35 yards to Joe Butler who somehow caught the ball only inches inside the endzone with three Dragon defenders surrounding him .  It was a miraculous play and a dramatic end to the game for all who played and watched.  Much respect is given to the Houston Dragons for taking it to the wire with us, and once again Congratulations to the Houston Wolverines!

Game #6 Recap:
April, 21, 2007

The Wolverines won 29-12. The Rams' Defense presented a valiant defensive stand on the first drive of the game.  On 2nd and goal the Rams' defense forced a fumble that would serve as their mantra for the whole game: "The Wolverines Can Be Stopped".  The Wolverines responded with a defensive momentum changer of their own: James "Harvard" McDonald sacked the Rams' Quarterback in the endzone for a safety and the first points of the game.  The Wolverine offense led by a balanced running and passing attack took over from that point on and scored in consecutive drives.  A very fast and slippery Rams Quarterback led two drives aided by big plays for scores, however the Wolverine Defense managed to contain the threat with great adjustments from the coaching staff and a well timed interception by Devontra Hargrove.

Game #7 Recap:
April, 28, 2007

The Wolverines won 28-12.  The Galveston Riptide returned for our second game of the year with focus, intensity and hard hitting.  The Riptide made big plays: scoring on a fumble recovery and kick return.  In spite of their great effort the Wolverines Passing attack was potent and the Wolverines Defense posted another shutout.  Great play was displayed by the combination of Robert Descant and Deron Blaize who consistently worked together on the punt team to pin the Riptide deep inside their 20 YD line.  The Wolverines defense again put points on the board with a safety and a fumble recovery off a punt block run for a touchdown by rookie DE Nick Loucks. In the final minutes All-Star CB Jason Neal put the nail in the coffin with a perfect interception.

Game #8 Recap:
May 5, 2007

The Wolverines beat the Texas Express19-12.  The Express scored with defense and offense, but the Wolverines did as well.  David Daye returned an interception for a touchdown that proved to be the difference.  It was a tough battle but in the end the Wolverine Defense managed to contain the Express to one offensive score.

Game #9 Recap:
May 12, 2007 The Wolverines win by forfeit 6-0 against the defunct Panthers.

Game #10 Recap:
May 19, 2007 The Wolverines beat the Houston Dragons 40-20 to finish the regular season with an unprecedented perfect record.   The game was exciting as QB Starsky Long consistently spread the ball with short, medium and long throws to Joe Butler, Billy Stokes, Kevin Silas and Dominique Jackson.  The Wolverine running game was potent as well with great running and scoring from Brandon Mitchell and Craig Bean.  The Wolverine defense played solidly against an immensely talented Dragon backfield.  LBs Brandon Scruggs and Mark Torres set the tempo early with a pass deflection and interception tandem.  Big defensive plays were made by Schederick Houston, Nick Loucks, Deron Blaize and a final 'Nail in the Coffin' interception by Jerome Scott.  The game exemplified team effort, hard work, and Wolverine talent.  Congratulations to Head Coach David Boler and our 2007 Coaching Staff for making this regular season unprecedented.
