Residential Camp
July 10-14, 2005
We are pleased to again offer at Ohio State our seventh annual Residential Camp. The camp is a natural progression from our very popular youth developmental camp, the Junior Buckeye. The residential camp is designed for the serious soccer player ages 11-18, and 2005 High School graduates are eligible to attend. The players will be grouped according to their abilities and enrollment will be limited to ensure the best possible environment for quality learning.
The curriculum of instruction for the week will be developed by Ohio State Head Coach John Bluem who holds a US Soccer “A” License, and is a NSCAA Academy Senior National Staff Coach. Along with Coach Bluem the other members of the staff will be licensed coaches. Technical and tactical training sessions will be complemented by full 11v11 matches and small-sided tournaments. Goalkeepers will enjoy the benefit of small group, individual coaching from experienced goalkeeping instructors, and the opportunity to test their skills in competitive matches.
Campers will be housed at the University Plaza Hotel. There will be two to three campers per room. All of our staff for the week, including a certified athletic trainer, will also stay at the hotel providing twenty-four hour supervision. A well planned, balanced diet will be served beginning with dinner on Sunday, and concluding with breakfast on Thursday.
Please join us for a challenging, competitive week of soccer. We will do our very best to help each player improve in all aspects of their game.

2005 Men‘s Soccer Camp Staff
Ohio State Head Coach John Bluem and assistant coach Frank Speth head the Ohio State Men’s Soccer Camp.
Head Coach John Bluem
Since taking over the program in 1997, the Buckeyes have made steady progress toward regional and national recognition under the direction of head coach John Bluem and a dedicated and talented staff.
Bluem, the 2004 and 1999 Big Ten Coach of the Year, has coached three Big Ten Freshmen of the Year, one Big Ten Player of the Year and 34 All-Big Ten Conference players.
Eleven of Bluem’s former players have been on MLS rosters, including former Columbus Crew goalkeeper Mark Dougherty and Ohio State defender Jake Traeger.
“Although I am very proud of the record my teams have achieved and our performances in the NCAA Tournament, I believe coaches are measured by the players they have developed. In this regard we have selected a curriculum of instruction for the Ohio State Soccer Camp that is designed to help each individual player improve and develop the skills necessary to take their game to the next level.”
Camp Facilities
The Ohio State Men’s Soccer Camp utilizes the campus facilities at the Ohio State University, including the Buckeyes’ brand new Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. This facility is the home of the The Ohio State men’s and women’s soccer teams.
