Welcome

Welcome Referees!

Welcome to a section devoted to our referees.  To be a referee for the Scarborough Soccer Club, you must be US Youth Soccer certified Level 8 or higher, and certified for the current year (2009).  We have a Referee Handbook available for viewing.  Please read and review this information, so expectations are clearly set and understood.

If you are interested in being a referee for the Scarborough Soccer Club 2009 Season, please contact

Helpful Information
Referee Certification & Recertification
Referees interested in becoming certified or recertified should first check the Soccer Maine web site for available classes.  Certification is controlled by Soccer Maine at the state level and Scarborough Soccer Club doesn't manage this schedule.  See:
http://www.soccermaine.com/pages/01referees.html

For anyone interested in becoming a newly certified referee, it is important to ensure that we have an adequate number of adult mentors to work with our new, young referees.  For this reason, preferential treatment for new referee scheduling will be applied to those referees that also involve new adult referees into our club.

Referee Payments
The SSC will pay referees at three points during the fall season:
1) After the Lobster Classic tournament
2) End of September, for all games worked in August & September
3) End of the regular season, for all games worked in October & November

Please allow two to three weeks to certify payments and for mailing of checks.  Contact the appropriate assignor if you have any questions or believe there is an error in payment.

Soccer Maine will directly issue checks for all games refereed as part of District Playoffs, U10 and U11 Festivals, and Challenge or Anthem Cup playoffs.  Please contact the appropriate assignor if you have any questions about whether the proper paperwork has been submitted, and Soccer Maine to determine status of any payments.
