The South Park Track Club is a youth club affiliated with the Three Rivers Association of USA Track and Field. In 2010 we had more than 90 members, age 7 to 18. Our home track is at South Park High School, 12 miles south of downtown Pittsburgh, Pa. We are a full-service club that teaches running, race walking, hurdling, jumping, and throwing events at both competitive and recreational levels. Our 2011 track season begins on April 4 and will continue through the national championship meets in late July and early August.

For more information, send an e-mail to southparktc@aol.com or contact head coach Mike Mehalic at (412) 835-3272 or memehalic@verizon.net.

Congratulations to our 2010 medalists!

Billy Stanley crushed the USATF Intermediate Boys (age 15-16) national record in the javelin with a throw of 208'8" at the Region 2 Junior Olympics. He was the gold medalist at both USATF national youth meets (Youth Outdoor and Junior Olympics).

Sarah Stanley placed fourth in the youth girls javelin at Youth Outdoor and sixth at Junior Olympics. Her best throw of the season was 108 feet.

Jaime Handra set a new Region 2 championship record by clearing 1.25 meters (4'1.25")  in the bantam girls high jump.  She placed fourth at Youth Outdoor and seventh at Junior Olympics.

Jessica Solomon (midget girl) and Audrey Doby (bantam girl) both placed third in the race walk at the AAU national championships.  Each was beaten only by a pair of girls from the South Texas Walking Club.

Michael Mehalic placed fourth in the bantam boys shot put (21'7.25") and eighth in the turbo-javelin at Youth Outdoor.

Oscar Albertsson cleared 1.20 meters (3'11.25") to place seventh in the bantam boys high jump at Youth Outdoor.

In addition, Josh Gesselberty went to Junior Olympics in the pentathlon and high jump, placing a very impressive 11th in the pentathlon in his first year in the midget boys age group, and Katelyn Mehalic was a Junior Olympic qualifier in the youth girls javelin.  In the fall, bantam boy Matt Carlin earned a trip to Alabama, where he finished competitively in mid-pack at the Junior Olympic cross-country championships.
