Coach Byrd enters his 3rd season with the 95 sting and brings a wealth of experience to the coaching staff he played basketball at Cave Spring High School in Roanoke, Va. and attended Virginia Tech University before moving to Spotsylvania County. Coach Byrd began teaching and coaching at Spotsy High School in 1992, serving as the JV head coach for boys basketball and girls softball for 7 years. In 1999 Coach Byrd taught at Hylton High School in Prince William County, serving as the varsity assistant coach for boys' basketball and head coach for the boys' tennis team. The following year, he taught at Forest Park High School and was selected as the head coach for girls' softball team. In 2002,Coach Byrd accepted a position at Massaponax High School.Coach Byrd served as assistant coach for boys' basketball and girls' softball team. In 2003, Coach Byrd was selected as the head boys' basketball coach. While at Massaponax,Coach Byrd has directed a co-ed basketball camp for youth for the past 3 years. He has also coached basketball, football, baseball, and soccer for the Spotsylvania Parks and Recreation League for 7 years. In the summer time, Coach Byrd travels home to Roanoke and serves as a camp counselor at Roanoke College.Coach Byrd also serves as assistant coach for the Spotsy Sting 10U boys basketball team.
