Coach Bio
Coach Ramon Hounshell
Ramon Hounshell is head coach of Spotsy Sting 14U. Coach Hounshell has been playing and coaching sports all his life. He played basketball and football at Anacostia High School in Washington D.C. He attended Virginia Union University on a football scholarship, where he started as a cornerback three years. Ramon coached high school football in D.C. for 11 years and middle school football and basketball one year. He also coached 1 year of High School JV girls basketball at Courtland High School. From 2002-2006 Ramon coached girl's soccer and basketball under the local Parks and Recreation Leagues and YMCA.
Under Ramon's leadership, Spotyslvania Sting accomplished lots on and off the court. The Sting team had an excellent 2009 circuit. The team had a record of 39-6. Sting finished 2nd in DI States and qualified for DI nationals. Participated in USJN in Hershey,PA with a record of 5-1. Team won the Fila Deep South Classic 13U,5-0.
Went 8-0 at UNC team camp. Finished in 1st or 2nd place in all tournaments entered. Two players were invited to Boo Williams Nike All American Jr.Showcase. Also all of the Sting players worked hard and earned A and A and B honor roll at their schools. Several players were involved in community activities. The awesome season Spotsy Sting had wouldn't have been possible without a great group of parents and excellent assistant coaches!
Ramon has been a Washington D.C. firefighter over 19 years. And is currently a Sgt. at Rescue 3. He is married to Patricia and has one child, Patrice a member of the 95 Sting.
Ramon is very excited as he enters his 4th year with Spotsylvania Sting 95 team.
