AMERICAN LEGION DISTRICT TOURNAMENT UPDATE

River Cats pull out a big, 10 inning win over Haughton 5-4! In a true nail biter of a ball game the 'Cats gave it their all to come out on top. Down 4-2 in the bottom of the 7th the River Cats tied the game with a huge, 2 run RBI off the bat of Scotty Dickson. The game ended with a man on 1st & 3rd for the 'Cats in the bottom of the 10th. Again, it was Scotty causing chaos on the base path to entice the pitcher to balk, sending in the winning run. Quality pitching came from both Christopher and Clint. Acrobatic outfield defense from Connor & John Martin stopped the Haughton hitters. Coaches were very proud of the effort and enthusiasm from all the players!

21 teams began legion play in our district. Only 6 remain alive. 2 are from Byrd. The River Cats are the only team without upperclassmen still playing!
..... Keep up the good work 'Cats!

Next game is Monday @ 5:00 against Airline. Players be there @ 4:00.

In other action on Sunday:
* Lakeside defeated Benton in an elimination game,
* Byrd-1 defeated Natchitoches (Byrd-1 remains undefeated)
* Shreve-1 defeated Airline (10-3)
