Sportfreunde lost a game today that they need to win if they want to compete for the Championship in the US Division.  We can blame the weather, the referee, the small field, the injuries, the lack of subs or just blame each other but the bottom line is we lost a game that we need to win if we are going to win the Championship.  We as a team are responsible for the wins and loses and individually we need to be responsible for our play on the pitch.

Lets not panic we started the 2004 campaign 1-1-1 and we can duplicate that championship season but if we don't let us not have any excuses.  We all need to train a little bit on our own during the week...we all need to work a little bit on our game...we all need to make an extra effort to attend all of the games.  If we can make those commitments to ourselves and to our teammates then at the end of the year whatever place we are sitting at in the standings one thing can be sure;                  

WE WILL HAVE NO EXCUSES

2008-2009 Opening day was special for Sportfreunde FC.  defeating Haledon O-30 by a score of 3-1.  It was our first annual Homecoming day @ Sportfriends where we had all three adult teams playing  with two teams coming away with wins and one team coming from behind to tie the game in the final minutes of the match.

 It is obvious that the Sportfreunde team means business this season with a new look in goal and on defense.  Steve was great in his goal tending debut and the only goal against by a break away. He made several great saves and was able to come off his line with ease...the last time he came 30 yards off his line to start a seven pass rally which led to the second goal of the game by Rabboh (1g).

The defense was solid with Kevin at Sweeper and Mike & Jack sharing time @ stopper.  Barnes (1g) playing left defense was able to make his mark in the first half by converting a PK.  

Joe (1a) also had an exceptional game at midfield as he was part of the seven pass rally and also had the assist to the third gaol of the game by Drab(1g). 

As a whole the team performed great.  It is clear that the summer league and scrimmage games arranged at the end of the summer really helped the team gel together better then in the previous year.  We have some tough games ahead but this win should give Sportfreunde the momentum it needs to be succesful this year.
