TRACK & FIELD 2008
Some exciting changes are about to take place with our 2008 Track & Field season. First is our practice site. With construction continuing at Shadle Park High School over the summer we have decided to change locations. North Central High School has graciously allowed us to come practice at their school. This is great news for our members that live on the south hill, valley and Medical Lake area. It is much more centrally located. The other cool thing is (pun intended), with the location of the actual track we will have plenty of shade for athletes and parents during those hot summer afternoons.Another exciting change is that Spokane Mercury is now the Premier, competitive team for the Spokane Youth Sports recreational program. Which means we will be able to invite the top athletes from their recreational program, to come be a part of our summer competitive team. Last but not least, we are continuing with our summer intern program for our High School athletes. We will be having 5 high school athletes in our assistant coach training program. This will allow them to get high school volunteer hours, get their Mercury fees waived and some of their travel expenses for the season covered. Practices will begin the week of May 26th. See you then.
