WE NEED YOUR HELP: The lease for Franklin Park was not renewed for the softball organization. Park and Rec will now run Franklin Park. There are no plans for mounds or infield grass at Franklin Park or Merkel. All will stay with softball designs that they will allow baseball games on. We would like Franklin Park turned over to youth baseball so we could build a complex specifically for baseball. We have offered to the City to build it ourselves with no taxpayer money being used. The City refused so that they could charge for usage. If you feel that youth baseball should ha ve Franklin Park please e-mail Mayor David Condonat dcondon@spokanecity.org and the Director of Park and Recreation Leroy Eadie at LEadie@spokanecity.org and let them know it is time the children of this community are served. Latest Update: The City has stated they will charge $25 per hour at Merkel and $15 per hour at Franklin for 2012. Previous rate for Franklin was $8 per 1 1/2 hours, $16 per game...new cost will be $45 per game, almost a 300% rate increase. Our new Spokane Babe Ruth clothes store is now open. Brandon Harmon, former GU pitcher and pitching coach at Whitworth is giving pitching instruction. Please see details under the Instruction and Camps link in the left column.
