Spitz Canadians Baseball Club: Tournaments

Next up - Saskatchewan!

The 2010 Spitz Canadians will be playing their second tournament of the year on the May 21-23 weekend.  The team will make the trek to Regina, Saskatchewan and be the first even Canadians team to play in Saskatchewan.  This will mean the 11 year old team will add its 3rd and possibly 4th province to play against (teams from Manitoba are expected at this event as well) to go along side the 16 states they have seen over the years.

USSSA event relocates to Lacey, Washington

The Spitz Canadians, ready or not, will launch into their 2010 season with a pre-season trip to Washington State.  The team last participated in the USSSA Baseball program in Riverside, California in October where the 2009 club captured their first ever tournament title in the "United States Specialty Sports Association".

Although originally scheduled for Moses Lake, Washington, the Washington USSSA officials were forced to cancel this event and offer the Canadians the opportunity to play in Lacey, Washington instead.  It still guarantees the club 4 games.  Ironically, this was the original event the club had planned on, but chose to save a bit of travel by choosing Moses Lake when the opportunity arose.  The team considered postponing opening weekend, but felt that the opportunity to build some unity and team chemistry early was important.  The players are likely not to mind too much either as the trip will include a visit to Safeco Field to see the Seattle Mariners and Detroit Tigers battle on Friday night.

Skyhawks Park in Lacey is known as a state of the art park that has one of its five fields complete with lights and artificial turf.  The team expects players to really enjoy playing on a great facility at Skyhawks Park this weekend.

Spitz Fall Classic Set for September 2010

The Spitz Canadians Baseball Club is proud to announce that its 5th Annual Spitz Fall Classic will take place in Lethbridge from September 10 to 12 at Spitz Stadium.  The event is open to all 16 and under teams, regardless of affiliation.  A registration package will be available on the website "Handouts" in the coming weeks.

In 2009, the Spitz Canadians were defending their 2008 title and were in position for a repeat, leading the Championship game going into the final two innings.  But a determined Strathmore Reds club rallied from behind and "stole" the title in the last two innings.  The Canadians settled for 2nd in their event so will be looking to move up one spot again in 2010.

The Canadians would like to thank the 2009 teams for their participation:
