Wednesday, June 4

Hey everyone!

St. Leo the Great is the 2014 Shore Parochial Baseball League Champion!

St. Leo won a hard fought, well pitched and played game Saturday, May 31st, 2014 at Monmouth University's baseball complex, defeating Southern Division Champion, St. Denis, 7 to 1. The victory completed an undefeated season for St. Leo's, their second undefeated season in a row, as they repeat as Shore Parochial Baseball League Champions. St. Leo has won 28 consecutive SPBL games and has had a very impressive run.

On a beautiful day for baseball, the 60 90 Foot Division finished their season with the Championship Game, followed by the SPBL Allstar Game. The Northern Division continued their dominance of the annual Allstar Game, winning their seventh in a row.

The Shore Parochial Baseball League is very grateful to Coach Dean Ehehalt and Monmouth University for allowing us to play our Championship and Allstar Games at their beautiful baseball complex. It's a special treat for our players and hopefully inspires them to try and play at the next level. I would also like to thank all the volunteers for their hard work, notably Rich Baier from St. Catharine.

The Shore Parochial Baseball League's 50 70 Foot Championship Game was played Tuesday, June 3rd in a light rain at Count Baise Park, Red Bank. St. Mary completed their undefeated season, beating St. Leo the Great in a game that was close until the end 13 to 6. St. Mary's Robert Gonzalez
and St. Leo's Jared Terefenko connected for homeruns in a game that was 7 to 6 heading into the bottom of the 5th inning. It was an exciting finish to the season.

Congratulations to St. Mary for winning the SPBL 2014 50 70 Foot JV Division!

The 50 70 Foot JV Allstar Game followed the championship game, played under the lights at Count Baise Field and was an exciting affair with multiple honeruns and solid play.

I would like to thank Mr. John Supp and Mr. Tony Flego from St. James who helped procure the Count Baise Park venue. Hopefully we can continue to use this field in the future.

I would like to thank all the volunteer coaches, athletic directors, administrators and parents who volunteer their time for the boys and baseball. Like I have said before, the league is only as good as the people involved. Thank you for your time and effort. You make the Shore Parochial Baseball League possible.

It's a wrap on 2014 Shore Parochial Baseball League season. Have a safe and enjoyable summer and continue to play baseball!
