2018 SPBL SEASON UPDATE

Hey everybody!

The rain let up long enough for the champions of the Shore Parochial Baseball League 50 70 and 60 90 foot divisions to be crowned yesterday, Saturday June 2nd.

St. Mary beat St. Catharine 8-1 for the 60 90 foot SPBL championship. St. Mary completed an impressive run, beating a strong St. Rose-Holy Innocent team on Friday 2-0 and then beating the SPBL regular season champion St. Catharine
yesterday.

St. Leo beat a tough St. Benedict team to win the 50 70 foot title and complete an undefeated season of 14-0.

Both leagues' allstar games were played after the respective championship games to finish the rain soaked 2018 season.

I would like to thank Head Coach Dean Ehehalt of Monmouth Univeristy for allowing the league to use MU's beautiful facilities for our 60 90 Foot Championship and Allstar Games. It's always a pleasure playing at their field and they are great hosts.

I would also like to thank the Red Bank Recreation Deptartment and Mr. Charlie Hoffmann for allowing the league to use Count Baise Field for our 50 70 foot championship and allstar games. I think this is a great venue for the 50 70 foot games with the turf and homerun fence. I'd also like to thank St. James coaches Mr. John Supp and Mr. Jim Wester for coordinating the 50 70 foot festivities on behalf of the league.

Last, but certainly not least, I would like to thank the volunteer coaches, administrators, parents and players that make the league possible. Thank you for your time and effort.

I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable summer!

Keep playing baseball!
