The Spartans opened there season against A new team to the area the Willoughby Thrills. Starting pitcher Guy Sapienza struck out 5 of the first 6 batters to open the game. It would be the start of of the most dominate pitching performance since Tony Davey K'ed 11 Mosquitoes on a cold night in May of 2005. The Spartans offence would jumped out to an early lead with 2 runs in the first and 1 run in the second and 2 more in the 3rd. The Thrills starting pitcher was all over the place until the 4Th. He would strike out two and look to get some help from the offence to help make a game out of it. Sapienza would not allow this game to get any closer than 5-1. To follow up is 5 K's in the first 2 innings he would add 5 more strike out by the fifth inning. The only run given up was on a throwing error by the pitcher. On a line shot up the middle Sapienza would knock it down only to throw it away. the next batter would double to RF as the Thrills first and only run would score. The Spartans put the game away with 4 in the 5th and two more in the 6th. Sapienza continued to show how a true ace performs as he would end the day with 12 K's and  a 0.00 ERA in 7 IP. The Spartans put a 11-1 WIN in the books. New comer CK Miller and Terry Bailey would Score 3 runs each and Jim O'Reilly would knock in 2 score 1 and steal a base. The bottom of the order was no where to be found as if it was 2006 all over again. the Spartans next game will be May 22nd at 730 at Gordan park in Cleveland as they play Woodys Bar and Grill.

May 22 Game # 2
SPARTANS V WOODY'S

For the first time ever the visiting Spartans would face Woody's Bar-n-Grill. Starting for the Spartans was RHP Alex Myers. Myers was one of the Spartans biggest off season pickups.  He would prove that as the game went on. Myers would strike out the first two batter on his way to 3 scoreless innings. On the other side of the ball the offence spent there first three scoreless innings grounding into a double as well as popping and flying out. 0-0 threw three. After Montague and Beckham would lead off the top of the fourth with K'S. The Woody's pitcher would walk three in a row as it looked as if the game was about to be broken open. with the bases loaded, to the plate would walk one member of LAKEWOODS FINEST, Zack S. All looked good but Zack would be sat down by a waaaaaaaaay outside strike three. Zack was left the argue with the ump at home plate as Alex Myer would walk on the field and look to keep his shut-out going. The Woody's would strike first in the bottom of 4. the lead off hitter would get on and come around to score before the third out. In the top of the 5TH LAKEWOODS FINEST member Ricky H would reach base on a HBP. Gerald head and CJ would also reach base as Ricky was put out on a fielders choice. Bailey knocked in Head lol, as Beckham would head to the plate. Everyone would hold there breath as the pitcher would plant what looked to be a  high fastball to the face of Beck. The ball hit the bat and Beck was just shaken up. It lit a fire in him and the team as 2 pitches later he would lase a long single to drive in two. The Spartans would Score 6 by the third out. Alex would continue to cruise till the 7th. Coach O'Neal would leave him in to get the comlete game. But the Tired Arm of myers would give up 3 runs in junk time. With 2 outs and Runners on first and second David Naypaur would come in and get the pop up out to Avery Rucker for the save. The Spartans added another run in the top of the inning as LAKEWOODS FINEST members would hook up for run #7. CKM would double and J'Reilly would knock him in. After another game where the Spartans would take advantage of mistakes and have great pitching.  The season record stands at 2-0 for the first time in team history. Next up C-Town Woodies one day before they head to Berea to Face the #1 Ranked Cleveland Mosquitoes.
