History of the Foundation
The space Needle Volleyball Foundation (SNVF) grew out of a need to allow girls the opportunity to gain correct coaching and proper training by caring, knowledgeable coaches creed, from the outset, has been discipline, respect for self and others, and having fun. The SNVB's philosophy has always been for the players to be successful in ALL aspects of their lives.
1996 the first outdoor 2-weeks volleyball camp was held at Hamlin Park with 13 players.
1997-98 The SNVF became a reality and started with 9 players and 2 coaches.
1998-99 In the second season the club grew to 44 players, 6 teams, 12 coaches and we attended the Spokane Qualifier by airplane.
1999-2000 The third Season brought 64 participants teams, 16 coaches and attended to the National Tournament in World Disney Orlando as well Spokane.
2000-01 By the fourth season the foundation had 80 players, 9 teams, and went to Madrid-Spain in addition to the U.S tournaments and Canada.
2001-02 The fifth season included 94 participants, 9 teams, and started Little Spikers. We had various teams win their divisions in Spokane.
2002-03 The sixth season had 99 players, nine teams, and we continue to build our coaching staff.
We had added Gina Torrealva to our coaches staff.
Much credit for the SNVF's success must go to three people who give unselfishly of their time, effort and expertise:
Ric Lomibao: is instrumental in the SNVF's information and legal matters. He is a National Referee and Scorekeeper. Always cognizant of latest changes, Ric often is the Foundation's advisor. A great organizer, his help with local, national and international trips is invaluable! He seems to always know what's needed and is right there when it counts. Ric was born in Hawaii, but he's so well liked, and needed, that the club is mighty glad he came to the mainland.
Mr. and Mrs Hopkins (Mark and Lillian) joined the SNVF in its first year and have coached as well as helped with all aspects ever since, including Lillian even driving Raquel to Olympia to set up the Foundation when her leg was in a full length cast from an Achilles tendon surgery. Supportive of the girls and coaches, they do all they can to help the players be successful and to enjoy themselves.
Space Needle Volleyball Foundation offers a unique experience for our members to enhance their life-long learning skills through the sport of volleyball. We offer exceptional Olympic-caliber coaching that is committed to young people and enthusiasm about attainting each individual member's goals.
We are proud to have a program where persistance and determination create a synergy we call team-building and to be a role model for the community spirit. The belief that "you are important and can make your dreams come true" has always been an important part of our tradition of excellence. Each year we strive to improve our program and understanding of one another through our relentless dedication to communication and learning.
Fitness, discipline, self confidence, supporting our teammates and having fun while improving oneself are just a few ways that Space Needle Volleyball Foundation can enhance your life. The Foundation welcomes parental involvement, and is greatly appreciative of individual's support and corporate sponsorships.
