South Valley Little League: Volunteer Application & Info

Friday, November 13

"Bonnie's Believe it or Not" :-) ...

There are likely more possibilities for volunteering in your local Little League than you could every possibly imagine:

And ...

There is NO prerequisite that you have a child in the program for you to help make this "Child Development Program" the best program in your area for local youth!

  • Attending Board Meetings - joining forces to volunteer and assist in the operation and 'behind-the-scenes' activities that keep your program running so smooth
  • Helping with publicity - sharing information in the schools, distributing informational flyers, working with local media opportunities
  • Helping with any and all fundraising opportunities - at the league level and/or the team level.  Sharing ideas and helping implement them
  • Learning about the Safety Program - and helping the league implement this important facet of the league's operation
  • Managing (this is our "head coach" on each team)
  • Coaching
  • Assistant Coaching
  • Scorekeeping
  • Umpiring (all of Little League's umpires are VOLUNTEERS, and we encourage young people and individuals of all ages to jump in and be part of the 'team'! )
  • Recording "Pitch Count" for the baseball teams during the games
  • Team Parent - coordinating activities and correspondence so the manager and coaches can be focused on their responsibilities of organizing practices and games, and teaching the kids life skills
  • Scheduling parents to provide the 'most important' treats for the end of each game
  • Field Maintenance - preparation pre-season, before games, raking and cleaning up after games
  • Helping distribute and/or collect uniforms
  • Helping with fundraising projects (at the team and/or league level)
  • Distributing team photo-packets and helping organize the photo shoot in partnership with the selected league photographer
  • Promoting local community participation in supporting your league ...
  • Participating in training opportunities (for parents, managers, coaches, umpires, board members)
  • Being a very pro-active community member - promoting "Cheers not Jeers" at every single game and helping inform those who may come with a "Doberman-ish" or negative attitude about adjusting them so everyone can have a good time supporting the Kids and the Volunteers in this Kids' Program ...
Little League requires every league run confidential background and sex offender registry checks on anyone who 'could' have repetitive contact with the children in our care.
Thus ... we ask EVERY parent/guardian complete the Volunteer Application, provide a photocopy of their government-issued photo i.d. (generally a drivers license), and turn those two items in either as they are registering their ballplayer or prior to the season's activities beginning.  This will assist us in providing as safe an environment as possible for your child and every other child!
