Welcome to South Texas Juniors Volleyball Club

Our philosophy and goal in organizing this club was to provide a service for
athletes in the valley who are serious about improving their volleyball skills. We will continue to teach our young athletes to become the best possible players they can be. We expect teamwork, positive attitude, team unity and good sportsmanship from all our players, coaches and parents. With the help of our dedicated coaching staff we will strive to provide the most competitive volleyball
program in the valley. We hope to promote the sport of volleyball by offering a unique method of training and to broaden the horizons of our players, coaches and supporters.

Something worth reading

The purpose of our volleyball team is to glorify God with the game of volleyball, but how exactly does that look? If we are playing for ourselves, then it doesn’t matter how we practice or if we mess around. If we are playing for our stats, then we will only work hard in games. If we are playing for the crowd, then we will play differently according to who is there. We may try things that are not in the best interest of the team to show off for our fans. If we are playing to intimidate the competition, then we will forget to do the fundamentals well, in an effort to do things that we are not ready for yet. If we are playing for a win, then we start to lose hope when we are behind in a match. If we are playing for a winning season, then we might give up if that goal appears out of reach.  If we are playing to glorify God, then every practice is an opportunity to give it our best for Him.  Every game is a chance to show God’s glory to the other team as He works in us.  Every serve, every ball we pass, every set we make, and every point we score, are all done to His glory.  The laps we run, the jumping drills we do, and the lunges down the court are all done for Him.  We don’t ever let up because we want to give Him our best in all that we do.  We don’t let up because we follow Christ’s example, and Jesus never let up in His passion for what He did.  It doesn’t matter whether we are practicing in a gym or in a barn; we are giving it our best for Him.  Regardless of whether we win or lose the match, we want to be able to say that we gave it our best to glorify God.  No matter what place we end up in at the end of the season, if our goal is to glorify God and we gave it our best every practice and every game, then we can hold our heads high knowing we accomplished our goal.

GOOD-SPORTSMANSHIP

We should all seek to compete to the best of our ability, treating ourselves, our fellow teammates, and our competitors with dignity and honor. Our behavior should reflect at all times that of Christ and our demeanor speak to the value of healthy competition. Instead of looking for the easy way to win or resort to cheating, being a good sport means that there are no short cuts to victory. Victory takes hard work and discipline. We should compete to the best of our ability, and hope to beat our competitors at their best. Good-Sportsmanship draws people together in the spirit of healthy competition and in the end the two are better for having competed.
