This weekend the Carmel Ice Skadium is hosting the GMHL League Tournament. This is the premier ACHA Division II College Club League in the country where most of these teams are ranked nationally every year. Indiana University is the host team this year and will open against Miami University at 8:15pm on Friday, February 29 at Carmel.

Several former Indiana high school players are on the IU roster this year including: Chris Gordon(Columbus Icemen), Dan Karlander(Carmel Gold), Danny Ivory(HSE-A), Alex Cook(SouthStars-A), Mark Yovanovich(Cathedral-Chatard), Daniel Keeney(Evansville), Adam Logue(Northrup), Zach Mills(Carmel Gold), Chris Bartholomew(South Bend Adams), and Matt Grainda(Carmel Gold).
The Indiana University Club team recently earned a return trip to the ACHA Division II National Championships which will be held in Fort Myers, Florida on March 12-15, 2008. They will join GMHL league members University of Michigan, Michigan State University, Miami University, and Grand Valley State University who will all be playing at Carmel this weekend.
Monday, February 11 South Stars Welcome Skate The South Stars would like to invite all incoming players for the 2008-09 season to an open skate. Interested players entering grades 9 through 12 are encouraged to attend. This is a great time to meet some of the returning players, coaching staff and have your questions answered about high school hockey. Pizza will be provided after the skate. Full gear is required. The skate will be held on March 13th from 7:00 - 8:30 PM at the Perry Ice Rink. Any available returning South Star Blue(A) players are invited to help out and to meet our incoming players. Monday, March 5 ISHSHA State Championships - South Stars Red Congratulations to the South Stars Red Team ! The South Stars Red team went undefeated in pool play in the Indiana State High School tournament this past weekend, earning a spot in the state championship game. Also a strong showing by our South Star Blue team in the 3A pool with a record of 1-1-1, all tightly contested games. Please come out this Saturday morning, support your program and watch some great hockey. Should be a great morning/afternoon of hockey. Howard Guitard Memorial Award Our congratulation to Michael Wales who was awarded the J. Howard Guitard Memorial Award. Michael is a graduating senior goalie who played on the South Stars Varsity Blue team this past season. Each year, four Memorial Award Scholarships are presented to senior athletes at the Indiana State High School Invitational Hockey Tournament. The awards are made based on academic achievement, citizenship, community and school contributions, leadership, dedication, and sportsmanship. Michael, well done and well deserved! Tuesday, September 18 Alex Cook selected by the IU Hockey Team Congratulations to South Star alumni Alex Cook for making the IU Hockey Team! Alex was a 4 year Varsity A player and Captain of the South Stars Blue team during his senior year last season. We wish Alex well in the upcoming IU season. Thursday, November 13 South Stars Alumni Game The South Stars Alumni game is being held on Dec 29th at 6:30 PM at the Perry Ice Rink.
