SSC NEWS
**Southside Soccer Club is taking early registrations for the Spring 2010 season. Only $25.00 per player if the registration is received by 1/1/10. After that day, all registrations are $30.00 per player. Forms can be downloaded from this site and mailed into the address shown on this site.
**Christmas parade-SSC will be in the Danville Christmas parade on 12/12/09. Meet on Poplar Street at 5:15pm if you want to be on the float. Volunteers are needed at 3:15pm to get the float ready.
**Board meeting—the SSC board of directors will meet on 12/3/09 at 6:30pm at the SSC concession stand at Blairs. All are welcome to come.

VA Soccer Festival Results
Southside Soccer Club all star teams did extremely well at the Virginia Soccer Festival held in Hanover Co on 6/13 & 6/14 & hosted by Dynamo Soccer Club.
SSC placed 6 teams as follows:

Thank You, Shoe Carnival
Shoe Carnival of Danville Va has given a special gift to Southside Soccer Club. Shoe Carnival has become a yearlong sponsor and in addition, has given $200.00 in scholarship money for players who need the financial help with registration fees. Shoe Carnival is the first business in the area to make such a donation of this size. SSC and the kids thank you. Game Cancellation Policy
If you need to reschedule a game , the cut off time is Tuesday at 8:00P.M. the week before your game is due to be played ( notify SSC B.O.D. ) . You can not cancel a game just because you want to . If you do not give SSC B.O.D. the proper notice or enough time to reschedule the game you will forfeit . If no solution is reached between the two coaches the coach who requested the rescheduling of the game will forfeit their game . If you do not give notice by the cut off date you will have to play the game as scheduled . If both teams fail to show the game will be considered an Abandoned Match and both teams will finish the season one game short . This will hurt you in the point standings as you will have no point(s) for this game . There are no exceptions to these rules.

Carl Saunders Memorial Scholarship fund
Southside Soccer Club is starting a scholarship in honor of Carl Saunders who passed away on 1/16/07. He was the father of Craig Saunders and grandfather of SSC players Casey Saunders and Will Saunders. He was a great supporter of SSC and rarely missed a match that his grandsons or son were involved in. He touched many lives in this soccer club by offering advice and support. The family and club will be developing guidelines for this scholarship in the near future. Hopefully this will be at least one scholarship awarded per year to a SSC player who will attend college. The club is now accepting any donations that anyone wishes to make to this scholarship and they are tax deductible. If made by check please note on it that the donation is for the scholarship fund.

SSC Cleats and Shinguard Bank
If you have cleats or shinguards that your children have outgrown and they are still in useable condition, consider donating them to the SSC Cleat and Shinguard bank. Children outgrow clothes so quickly and this a good way to provide for our up and coming soccer players.
If you have need for cleats or shinguards, see one of the board members to see if we have what you need in our bank.
