The state championship game had our South Portage girls taking a 1-0 lead into the 6th inning, but some tough hitting by Gladstone pushed the UPer girls over the top, winning the Championship by a score of 2-1.<br>

							<font size=2>South Portage Senior Boys won the District 2 Championship Thursday night. They did things the hard way coming into the championship from the losers bracket and having to win two in a row (15-1 and 12-4)against an undefeated Northwood-Plainwell.<br>
<br>
Our seniors are on a roll now though. The first two games they trailed early and had to come back from behind to secure one run wins: 10-9 against Milwood and 12-11 against Eastwood. Then they lost soundly to Northwood-Plainwell 3-9. That's when things started clicking and the boys started playing. A decisive win against Gull Lake (9-6) put South Portage into the D2 championship.<br>

Great job boys! Good Luck at the State Tournament in Macomb Township next weekend.

The girls are now in Tecumseh at the Michigan State Tournament where they play District 3: Dexter at 3 on Saturday, District 7: St. Clair at 12:30 on Sunday and District 16: Tecumseh Area at 6:15 Monday.<br>
