11 Year Olds WIN District 2 Baseball Championship!
The South Portage 11 year old All-Star team cruised through district play winning four straight games by outscoring opponents 33-14. Jared VanderBor and Wolf Schafer shared the pitching duties during District 2 play each winning 2 games.

The Championship game against West Portage was a great one to watch as South Portage found itself down going into the 6th inning. But a timely double from Jared Vanderbor knocked in two runs (Jackson Schelb and Brandon West) putting South Portage ahead for good 6-5. The one run lead proved enough as the 11 year olds shut down West Portage in the bottom of the 6th. Wolf Schafer pitched the entire 6 innings for South Portage.

Next stop for the Champions won't be Disney World they must play a sectional with District 15 Champion Mattawan. The best of three sectional series is scheduled for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (if necessary) at Milwood Little League. All games begin at 6PM. Good Luck Boys - Go Get 'Em.

Monday, July 24
Senior Softball State Runner-Up
The South Portage Senior Girls worked their way into the State Championship by defeating Mattawan 8-2 in the 2nd Chance Bracket. South Portage started the tournament on fire defeating D9 Georgetown 5-1 and D15 Mattawan 9-0 before running into a stingy D5 Taylor team and losing 2-7.

South Portage needed to turn the tables on Taylor and beat them twice to claim the State Championship. Taylor would have none of it though and continued their exceptional defense not letting South Portage score while getting 9 runs themselves.

Great job girls, you made all of us at South Portage proud!

Wednesday, July 26
9-10 Softball Win D2 Championship!
The 9-10 Softball team breezed through District 2 to claim the championship after defeating Eastwood 8-2 in the Championship game.

South Portage now advances to the State Tournament in Mattawan starting July 29th at 11AM versus District 11: Marquette. Come out and support our girls at the State tournament.

Wednesday, July 26
11 Year Old Baseball Advance to State!
After winning the District 2 championship the 11 year old baseball team from South Portage defeated Mattawan twice in a sectional to advance to the State tournament in Jackson. The first game for them will be July 29th at 12 noon against either District 6 or 7 on the Orange field.

Why not pack a picnic and run over to Jackson to support our boys!

Wednesday, July 26
9-10 AND Junior Baseball Win D2 Championship!
Both the 9-10 National and Junior baseball teams from South Portage won District 2 Championships at Eastwood Little League Tuesday Night.

The 9-10 Natonal League team defeated their friends the 9-10 American League team from South Portage in a nail biter that ended 3-2 in the bottom of the 7th inning. Both teams had a great tournament. The National League boys now hike all the way up to Ironwood Michigan for a 10:30 AM game Friday, July 28th against District 10: Gladstone. Good Luck Boys!

The Junior boys powered their way through the tournament defeating Alamo soundly 8-1 for the District 2 crown. The Juniors now play in Grandville at 3:30 PM Friday, July 28th against District 10: Kingsford. Good Luck Boys!
