Congrats South Jersey Edge U19s 2011 USAFH National Indoor Champions! Thanks to the players, parents, family members and coaching staff. This was truely a group effort.

Congrats to all teams who attended the Disney Field Hockey Showcase. Our U19 team and U16 black advanced to final round of play, finishing in the top 8 of their division. Both teams lost their final game 1-0. It could have gone either way but they fought till the end and left all their hearts on the field! Our U16 pink team finished in the top 50% of the teams and also did a great job. They all made New Jersey Proud.

Thanks

Welcome to our website. Our club formed January of 2006 and we have had much success. Our team participates in both indoor and outdoor tournaments. Our players demonstrate a positive attitude, teamwork, the ability to think well in all playing situations, the ability to play different positions, excellent stick work and natural athletic abilities. We attend several local tournaments and showcase events. We also made our first appearence at USFHA National Field Hockey Festival in November of 2007, taking 2nd place in our pool, the Disney FH Showcase in February of 2008, National Indoor Qualifiers in January of 2008 and the National Indoor Tournament in 2009, both our U14 and U19 teams took 2nd place.

We are looking forward to a successful 2011-2012 season. Check back often for updates. Information on the 2011 National Hockey Festival and the 2012 Disney Showcase has been posted on the appropriate tabs.

Information on the 2012 spring training will be posted on the spring training tab in February.

Handout: 2011 Summer League

Summer League Information

South Jersey Edge holds a turf Summer League at Rowan University for High School, College and Adult players. Play is 7 v 7 (6 + a GK or 7 field players). Registration information is available in March/April. If you are interested in being added to our distribution list please email southjerseyedge@comcast.net and include "Summer League Information" in the subject. When information is available it will also be posted here.

Summer League will be on Thursday nights for the 2011 season due to turf availability. League rules and regulations are below.

Team/Player Registration: All new players are required to check in the 1st night of play. Please arrive early enough to complete check-in. This is to ensure all players are registered and to distribute T-shirts. No shirts will be given without payment received and waivers signed. T-shirts will not be given to team contacts for any players not in attendance.  As I stated in prior emails, we are providing t-shirts this year. All players are REQUIRED to wear the t-shirt while playing. In prior years we had a couple of problems, one was teams were wearing all different color shirts which made it very hard on the officials and the other was players not registered were showing up to play. If a player's name is not on the roster, they are NOT registered to play. If a team is caught using a player that is not registered, without prior permission, the team will no longer be eligible to participate in the league and NO refunds will be issued. This is for insurance reasons. If you signed up as an individual, please check the roster for your team assignment.

Please check the attached rosters for comments. There were a few issues with some registrations.
  • Some people need to provide me with a new check, they made it out to wrong group. Check should be made payable to SJ Edge.
  • Some forms were hard to read and the email addresses are not valid. If you know someone in this situation please have them email the correct address.
  • Some players did not complete the waiver portion of the form. This needs to be done before you can participate.
  • Some players still need to submit payment, please do so prior to playing.

Feel free to email me with any questions or concerns. ALL TEAMS, please remember if you did not register as a full team you will be paired with other players. If your team is split, this was done by the request of your coach or team contact.

Trainer – Please remember, we do have a trainer on site. Please see the trainer immediately in the event of injury.

Parents/Spectators – No parents or spectators are permitted in the playing area. All parents and spectators must remain outside the fenced area.

Rules Reminder – In addition to the standard rules we will be using the following.·   We will be using self start on free hits and center passes.·   We will have 4 players back on a corner, 3 and GK or 4 field players. ·   No goal will be scored on goal during a penalty corner until the ball has left the circle and re-entered.

Game Length – Please check the schedule carefully. Please arrive 15 minutes before your start time. In the interest of time, because we MUST stay on time, clocks will start on time regardless if teams are ready.

High School teams will play two 28 minute halves.

College teams will play two 28 minute games.

Rowan and Stockton – Since you have multiple teams playing, I have made each group the same color. In the event that one of your teams is short you can fill in for them, only if they are short.

As a reminder, if there is inclement weather cancellations will be decided 1 hour before game time. All cancellations will be communicated via email and the website will be updated. Games will be decided on an hour by hour basis. If one set of games are cancelled it does not mean the next set will be cancelled. Please read the message carefully. I know some of you come from far away. I will make all decisions based on the future radar on www.weather.com, I have included a link. You must click on radar map then click future to see the future radar.

I will have limited access to respond to emails while on the field and I will not be able to answer phone calls. I will attempt to respond to text messages as quickly as I can.

If you are not going to attend a week of summer league please let someone on your team know. If your team is going to be missing several players please have someone contact me to arrange for some borrowed players. When teams are really short this does not only impact that team but the teams they are playing. Please be considerate of all members of the league and ensure you have enough players to participate.
