Phillies Open Team is still struggling in Nanaimo after 2 more losses after Day 2. New Westminster broke open a 3-3 game after 4 innings, capitalizing on 4 errors in the 5th to beat the Phillies 11-3. In the 2nd game vs Regina the Phillies were tied 1-1 after 4 but the wheels came off again and they dropped a 4-1 decision. The Open team is now battling for 7th or 8th place. On the bright side 2 Phillies are vying for the top batter position as Erin Klimpke sits at .500 and Marni Arnal is right behind at .450.

OPEN TEAM RESULTS DAY 1 IN NANAIMO
Phillies Open team is battling out in Nanaimo, and is 0-3 after 3 tough losses on the opening day. Game 1 was a 7-6 loss to Victoria that saw the Phillies give up 2 runs in the 7th, after leading 6-5 coming home. Game 2 was a 5-0 loss to Carnduff where the Phillies twice had the bases loaded with no one out but failed to push a run across. Game 3 was a 4-3 extra innings loss to Calgary. PEEWEES FIRST ROAD TRIP TO SASKATOON!!!
The PeeWees participated in their first out-of-town tournament in Saskatoon! The girls played their first game against the Moose Jaw Ice and were victorious 7 - 2 due to strong defence and some timely hits. The second game was a heartbreaker against the Saskatoon Raiders where we lost 7 - 6. However, the girls rebounded against our third opponents, Saskatoon Lasers, and won 12 - 2. All in all, the tournament was successful and an excellent team building experience! We faced strong teams, got our bats going, had excellent pitching, played well defensively, had nice weather, celebrated 2 players' birthdays and Happy Mother's Day.
