Dayton Sting: Welcome

Dayton Sting Baseball Club Mission Statement:

The Dayton Sting is a select baseball program for young men from the Midwestern United States. The Sting teaches fundamental baseball principles and strives to see incremental skill improvements from all involved. It is our mission to tutor players in an environment which stresses competiton, fun, sportsmanship, and work ethic. The ultimate goal of the Sting is to produce quality young men ready to play the game of baseball at the highest levels. We currently have teams competing at the 7U, 8U, 9U, 10U, 11U (two teams), 12U, 13U, and 17U levels. Play will resume in the spring of 2013 in the MWOBL and tournaments TBA nationwide.

The Dayton Sting Baseball Club is pleased to announce our Summer Smash tournament dates for 2013. The event will take place in Miamisburg, Ohio from July 4th thru July 7th. The tournament will be held at Rice Field, at First Church of God, and at Miamisburg High School. We may add some other sites for the older age groups as necessary. This is the first time that the majority of the event will be held in one central location, this will provide a much more focused, fun, experience. We have partnered with BPA this year and teams finishing high in our tourney will get automatic bids to their World Series event in Tennessee. We will have BPA certified umpires working all of the games and will have skills competitions in some form for all age groups. The entry form is now available on this site, click on the Summer Smash Info./Other Forms to find it. We are starting to get a lot of teams signing up, a detailed list will be posted soon.

Dayton Sting Baseball Club-8U Open Evaluations For The 2014 Season The Dayton Sting Baseball Club is searching for players to join their 8U team for the 2014 baseball season. If selected your son will receive year round training instruction from the best, most experienced youth baseball instructors in the region. The Sting is one of the premier programs in the Midwest and consistently competes at a high level. This is an opportunity for a player/family who is very passionate about the game of baseball to join an elite level program and learn baseball the right way. We teach fundamental baseball principles, stress the importance of hard work/respect for the game, and ultimately we produce high-end varsity, collegiate, and professional level baseball players. Tryout dates are July 10th at 6pm, July 13th at 10am, and July 17th at 6pm. Any questions call Tim! Potential players must be very passionate about the game of baseball and be willing to train year round. The Sting employs a proven training system that utilizes the experiences of several former college and professional athletes to prepare students for the highest levels of the sport. This can be validated by the number of current and former Sting players who are rostered on their high school varsity teams. Several have received All-League, All-Area, and even All-Ohio recognition. Tryout dates are as follows. July 9th at 6pm, July 13th at noon, and July 16th at 6pm. This is a great opportunity for the right player to join an elite baseball club. 2014 Dayton Sting 13U Tryouts The Dayton Sting Baseball Club is actively seeking dedicated, hard working individuals to round out a very talented group of baseball players. Potential players must be very passionate about the game of baseball and be willing to train year round. The Sting employs a proven training system that utilizes the experiences of several former college and professional athletes to prepare students for the highest levels of the sport. This can be validated by the number of current and former Sting players who are rostered on their high school varsity teams. Several have received All-League, All-Area, and even All-Ohio recognition. Tryout dates are as follows: July 23rd @ 6 p.m. and July 27th @ 12:30 p.m. Additional private evaluations are possible after these dates.

• Directions to First Church of God: 

Take I-75 to the State Route 725 Exit (Exit 44 at the Dayton Mall) 2.Take St. Rt. 725 West until you reach Heinke Rd. (a couple of miles) 3. Go right on Heinke Rd (North) 4.The First Church of God Ballpark is about 1/2 mile north of SR 725 on the left. The entrance is the first entrance past the Kroger parking lot on the left. There are two fields at the complex.      

• We are continually looking to upgrade our teams at all age levels! Please contact the club coordinator to schedule a private evaluation session! 

• If you need directions to a particular away ballpark they can be found on the MWOBL website at www.midwestohiobaseball.com! It is strongly recommended that you save this site under your favorites and use it. The directions are listed under the tab which says "field directions".

• Private individual tryouts for any Sting team can be scheduled by calling the club coordinator at (937)546-6946 for more details. The home of the Sting Baseball Club is the First Church of God Sports Complex on Heincke Road in Miamisburg. Directions to the facility can be found on the Midwest Ohio Baseball League site.                                                                                  

• A few insights for moving around and finding information on the Sting site. Each age group has their own section with all applicable games and practices listed on the top of this page. Directions to various parks can be found under locations on this site or on the MWOBL website which is listed under the links tab. Also, you can access your specific team information (eg. roster, stats, schedule, etc.) by clicking on the drop down box in each category and selecting the team you want. Any questions contact Coach Tim anytime. 

• Corporate donations: The Dayton Sting receives about half the money it takes to operate select baseball teams from corporate sponsorships. Companies and individuals who would like to help out financially are encouraged to contact the appropriate age group coordinator. Any corporation, business, or individual who donates a minimum of $250.00 receives the following in exchange. Name on the website under the sponsors section, name on the team banner, framed team picture, thank you letter, and a follow-up letter. If you know someone who has interest in becoming a donor for the Sting please have them contact the relevant age group sponsor representative, Tim Dunaway (8U), Eric Gearhart (9U), Scott Whitesell (10U), Matt Sundermann (11U Black), Tim Dunaway (11U Gold), Jim Yerkins (12U), Sean Nuessgen (13U), TBD (15U), and Tim Dunaway (17U). We can use financial help any time of the year. 

• Fundraisers-Any suggestions and/or help would be greatly appreciated! The Sting would like to extend a thank you to our partner during the the 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012 Americana/Summer Smash tournaments, the Centerville/Washington Township Americana Festival. Thanks Joy Brush for getting this whole thing off the ground.  

Kettering Athletic Scholarship Fund:

The Dayton Sting Baseball Club continues to contribute monies to the Scholarship fund established in Kettering, Ohio to honor Joey Sharpe. 

Community Service:

The Sting Baseball Club in partnership with the BPA wll hold the 5th Annual Sting Summer Smash tournament July 4th thru July 9th, 2013. This tournament is a big draw and will bring in teams from all over the Midwest. The event always sells out very quickly and is one of the best run tournaments of the year. This year winnng teams will get their entry fees returned and receive an invitation to play in the BPA World Series in Tennessee.
