The history of South County Youth Lacrosse
The South County Youth Lacrosse program was founded and administered by Peter Briggs in the fall of 1998 in conjunction with the YMCA of South County. The program focused on instruction and fun as the young players learned the fundamentals of this exciting sport. The following spring the group continued to learn and played a few informal games with other teams including a jamboree at Brown. The number of participants increased and the program became a seperate entity that sponsored four boy's teams in the 2000 spring season. Teams played in U-8, U-10, U-12, and U-15 leagues in the RI Youth Lacrosse League and home games moved from the Y to the SK Junior High fields. There are no league standings but the scoreboard could not begin to tell how much fun the players had. The coaches and the players are looking forward to an exciting 2001 season.
