Spring registration

The 2009 spring season is right around the corner. Registration will take place during December and January. All players need to bring their original birth certificate and 3 proofs of residency. Only ONE proof can be a utility bill. See below for acceptable proofs.

1) Abstract Birth Certificates - The Department of Health made significant changes to acceptable birth records this season. Effective this season Abstract Birth Certificates are NO longer accepted as a proof of age document. If you have an Abstract Birth Certificate, you must take the certificate to the SD County Recorders Office and exchange it for an original birth certificate. NO exceptions can be made to this ruling. Plan ahead and get your new certificates early. This rule change only affects children born in the state of California.

2) Age Determination Date - Little League Incorporated had adopted a new age determination. Previously a players league age was determined by whatever age the child was on or before July 31st. The NEW date is now April 30th. So if your child was born between May 1st and July 31st he/she will play another season using the same league age as 2005. NO changes can be made to this ruling. This will make some players play an extra year in t-ball or in other divisions.

3) Fees - $70 Single Player
$130 Two Players (Must be siblings)
$175 Three or more Players (Must be siblings)

Umpires Needed!
Umpireshake

As a non-profit organization South Bay Little League relies on volunteer Umpires for all of their games. We have a very small core of dedicated Umpires who have graciously given of their time but we are still woefully understaffed. South Bay Little League is seeking Volunteer umpires of all ranges of experience, or even no experience at all.   We would like to be able to put a minimum of two umpires on the field for every game.   We cannot do that without more volunteers. You can progress at your own comfort level and start off slow as you receive on-the-job training. We will also provide an umpire workshop during the season. All equipment is provided and all we ask of you is your time. If interested, please contact Art Diaz or email us at South Bay Little League

LITTLE LEAGUE MANDATE BACKGROUND CHECKS
Dugout

All local Little Leagues are now required to conduct background checks on Managers, Coaches, Board of Directors members and any other persons, volunteers or hired workers, who provide regular service to the league and/or have repetitive access to, or contact with, players or teams. Individuals are also required to complete and submit a Little League Volunteer Application to their local league. Click the link above for more information.

Equipment Recycle Program *NEW*
Support
Equipment Recycle Program

We would like to start up a new Equipment Recycle Program for all South Bay Little League athletes. In order to make this work and to have it be benefitual, it will take your participation. If you have any equipment, such as, gloves, cleats, baseball pants, belts, helmets, bats, etc... that you no longer need or use (maybe your kids grew out of these items), please donate them to this program at South Bay Little League. We will be putting boxes out to gather these items during registrations and throughout the season.

If you are in need of any of these items, please check with any board member at the club house and if we have what you need, we will be more than happy to give them to you.
