3 | Sunday afternoon saw Mustangs 2 verses the Thieves competing for the trophy in the Tournament Final. The game started with Nottingham staking an early lead with 2 runs in the top of the first. Southampton were only able to answer with 1 in the bottom. The second inning saw the Thieves score 2 more runs whilst the Mustangs were unable to get anyone home. Come the third inning saw Mustangs starter Jon Lansdown get into a grove holding the Thieves to just 1 run in the remaining five innings whilst the Mustangs scored 1 in the third, 4 in the fourth, 1 in the fifth and 1 in the six. The seventh inning Lansdown gave way to a Nottingham batter who made his way round to third but was held there by the combination of excellent defense from catcher Allan Steynor and Lansdown's pitching to seal the victory for the Mustangs. Nottingham are without a doubt the toughest college team the Mustangs have faced in a while and pushed them all the way. However, the Mustangs once again fought hard playing some excellent ball to retain the Trophy.
Well done to the Mustangs. A big thank you to Nottingham and Surrey and our four Umpires Scott, Dom, Darrin Muller and James Norman, the Mustangs and those who organized the Tournament.
