"SOONER COLLEGIATE LEAGUE" is a summer college baseball league based in the Tulsa, OK. area. The goal of the league is to provide local graduating high school seniors and area college players the best opportunity to play summer baseball locally in a competitive college league. Due to no Tulsa area college league, local college players had no choice but to be sent to other places to play summer or they were not playing at all. Now, they can stay right here in the Tulsa area if they wish and compete at a high level. They can come back home to their families, sleep in their own beds, work or pick up some summer college classes during the day and play ball in the evenings. Games are played at OBrien Park in Tulsa. OBrien has 2 fields that sit side by side. Games are generally played during the week days.

**************************************************************************************

(2012).....    Sooner Collegiate League and Owasso High School graduate PETE KOZMA  was called up to the Major League St. Louis Cardinals for the first time on Wednesday and hit an RBI double in his first major league at bat. Kozma, the 23yr old infielder, came into the game against the Houston Astros as a pinch-hitter for Lance Berkman with 2 outs in the bottom of the 5th. On a 2-2 count, Kozma doubled down the left field line, scoring Tyler Green to give the Cardinals a 5-0 lead.

Kozma stayed in the game and played 2nd base. He walked leading off the 8th but was out at 2nd on a fielders choice.

Kozma was promoted when the Cardinals placed infielder Nick Punto on the DL with a strained forearm.

Kozma, a first round draft choice out of high school in 2007, was batting .220 with 17 rbi's in 38 games with Triple-A Memphis this season but had 12 rbi's this season in 16 games this month - including a 4 RBI game Saturday and a 4-4 game on Sunday.

As more high school programs are looking for a place for their graduated seniors to play, especially those that have signed or are signable, this league will offer these college bound seniors a place to play also. This will give those players a place to stay sharp going into their very important fall play in college and the advantage of already having played against college players. We feel this league will be a big step above Legion type baseball. Teams may be a mix or match of graduated seniors and or current college players.
The league will play league home games at *OBRIEN PARK*. - www.obrienbaseball.com - and we may possibly use some local high school fields if and when needed. We will also assist teams with out of league games as well. Team entry fees will include umpires, coach and player insurance, field maintenance and prep, official scorekeeper, game announcer, league web site. Each team will supply their own baseballs and uniforms.
The Sooner Collegiate Baseball League was organized with the intent of providing members the opportunity to play baseball in a safe, successful, and competitive environment. Adult attitudes must always prevail, no matter how competitive any team is. It is the responsibility of all parties involved in Sooner Collegiate League play to adhere to these principles.
The Sooner Collegiate League could provide a tremendous opportunity for local college and college bound players, but also comes at cost. The Sooner Collegiate League is searching for corporate sponsors who want to be involved with the league, and partner with the league to help make it all possible. If you would like more information on sponsorship of the league, please contact Jonny Henderson at (918)-798-6908 or Jim Mull at (918)-381-2964.

Get involved! Help the Tulsa areas' homegrown talent stay in Tulsa to play baseball!
*******************************************************************************

The league champion will qualify for the popular NBC Collegiate World Series held in Wichita, KS. http://www.nbcbaseball.com/index.html Also usually available are post season berths to the CABA and AABC summer championships. We will start posting team contact info. as we confirm. We welcome everyone's interest but  keep in mind the league doesn't offer housing, jobs, etc. for players as some leagues do. Sooner Collegiate League is primarly made up of Tulsa area h.s. and college players though we've had in the past kids from Dallas, Okla. City area. The league is open to graduated  high school seniors and current collegiate players only.  This is not an adult league. 23yr. is the cut off age. Most teams require players to pay a team fee which helps pay for league entry fee, uniforms, etc. This is about a 6 week, 18 game (or so) league. In the past we've had anywhere from 6-12 teams. Below are the teams that have confirmed with us so far for 2010. Interested players should contact these teams directly for best results.

Graduating H.S. seniors....this is a great way for you to get some college experience before you even get on campus. If you plan on playing you guys could get together and form a team or 2. Contact me for any help with this-the sooner the better! League games scheduled during the week only, rainouts though may have to be played on a sat/sun. Start JUNE 1st - end around mid-JULY. Only those serious about their future should play - those that are not have been seen to hurt their teams, their college career and the league. Thanks.
