Uniform: Wear clean, ironed khaki/tan pants (no shorts and no jeans). They also need to wear a belt and closed toed shoes, such as sneakers. If ladies are are wearing a men’s shirt, it needs to be tucked in before they leave the arena and walk over to the game.
o Please note that if a group member arrives to work and is not wearing the appropriate uniform, they will be sent home per the ASU staff. No more warnings.
What time do we check-in and where? 4:00pm- TIME - Room 181
- Call times: The call time assigned is the time all staff members need to be at room 181 in Wells Fargo Arena. Please allow time to park and walk to the arena. We have a tardy and no-show policy for guest services staff members that in the past did not apply to group members. However, we had an issue with late group members and no-shows last game so, if needed, we will implement this policy for group members as well. I included the policy below just for your reference.
o Tardies: If you are late to check-in (TIME- TBA or later - you will be turned away) for the Oregon game. Please be on-time!
o No Shows: If you signed up for an event and do not call me or e-mail me before the game on Saturday, you are considered a no-show for that event. If you have an emergency situation which made you unable to work the event, please send that e-mail as soon as possible, preferably no later than the Monday following the event. The first time you are a no-show, you will not be able to work for the next game. The second time you no show, you will not be permitted to volunteer for a month. If you no-show a third time, you will not be asked back to volunteer! (This is ASU policy) -
Staff Check-in: When you arrive for the game, please take note of the signage (SOCCER VILLAGE) and then give your group name. Last name first. We will try to get your group members checked-in and out as quickly as possible. -
Briefings: Please remind your group members to pay attention to the information shared by the supervisors pregame. If there are any questions, please ask. In addition the information shared during the briefing please use the briefing sheets and information cards. With that information, staff members should be able to answer a majority of guests’ questions. - When on post: (Please note that if your group members do not follow the policies below, they may be sent home)
o Please do not use a cell phone unless you are sending a text message to the game day number. If you have a reason that you need to use your phone, please let us know in advance so we can let your supervisor know.
o Remember to perform your assigned task during the entire game. If you are an usher, you need to check tickets until the end of the game. The only exception is if you remember the person from earlier that game or season. If you are a ticket taker, you must check tickets throughout the game including asking to see a ticket and re-entry stamp if the guest is reentering. Please remember that we are here to serve the guests and their needs. If you are in a location where you can see the game, you are welcome to watch a few plays if there are no guests that need assistance. However, we need to be paying attention to the guests at all times.
o Please stand up straight and use the appropriate body language. You are welcome to lean since football is a long shift but please lean appropriately. Do not have your leg up on the railing, be leaning at the waist, be leaning on top of a turnstile or be sitting down. If you are not feeling well and need a break, please contact your supervisor or someone with a radio.
o Please make sure you are drinking plenty of water. We encourage you to bring water with you and refill your bottles at the water stations throughout the stadium. We also encourage you to bring snacks with you but please do not eat while you are on post. o While on break, please try to go to an area that is away from the general guests. Please do not sit in an aisle, tunnel or guest’s seat. There are benches in the concourse area that you are welcome to use.
o Welcome each guest with a smile and an appropriate verbal greeting.
o When speaking with guests, use courteous mannerisms and a friendly attitude.
o Make appropriate eye contact with as many guests as possible.
o Be prepared and plan ahead for our guests’ needs.
o Quickly respond to each guest’s questions or concerns.
o If problems do arise, take personal responsibility to resolve them efficiently and effectively.
o Listening to a guest with a problem is the first step in solving the issue at hand.
The donation rate is $8 - 9 depending on your assigned position on game day and the
average time committment is 4-6 hours per game.
Where do we park or how to get to the games? Complimentary ASU employee parking is located at Structure 1 which is on Apache Blvd between College and Normal Avenues. You will need to tell the parking attendent that you are working the game for ASU guest services for AOF.
Alternate Parking option: The light rail will drop you off directly in front of the stadium no other parking we have available will bring you half as close. You can park at many of the light rail locations for free from the east and west side of the valley. An all day pass is only $3.50 and can be obtained from a kiosk at all light rail stops. For more info go to www.valleymetro.org or call 602-253-5000. The site has a trip planner to let you know what time you need to leave and how you can also get to a light rail location by bus if you desire. The light rail runs up to 2am on the weekends. It's a great way to avoid all the game day traffic and parking confusions.
