Dufferin Soccer Camps is an organization that was created in an effort to provide quality instructional soccer programs to youth players in Southern Ontario at affordable rates.

All of our camps are run in cooperation with local youth soccer clubs and are designed to provide introductory level instruction in all areas including, but not limited to, fair play, skills, teamwork, training, attitude and the laws of the game.

Soccer is the most popular sport in the world and is currently the fastest growing amateur sport in Canada. This growth is directly related to the "grass roots" efforts of smaller clubs where the game is normally promoted by a dedicated group of volunteers that face a constant struggle to keep costs down and to keep player involvement up.

Dufferin Soccer Camps' mandate is to provide affordable programs that meet the needs of the smaller clubs and to develop an enjoyable and informative soccer experience for the participating youth soccer players

2008 PROGRAMS

fair play

This year, we will be offering two basic instructional programs. If a player or club has a specific requirement e.g. defending, mid-field, striker, team strategy, etc., and it is possible, we will modify the programs to meet the needs.

All of our programs emphasize fair play. It’s necessary, when dealing with youth players to impress upon them the importance of sportsmanship and attitude as well as individual and team skills.

Dufferin Soccer Camps recognizes that players with well developed playing skills often flounder when put in a competitive situation if they haven’t also developed a positive attitude, regard for their opponents, teammates and coaches, as well as an understanding of the laws of the game and respect for the game officials.

POSSESSION SOCCER

In keeping with   the Ontario   Soccer Association’s guidelines, Dufferin Soccer Camps will promote the “possession of the ball” philosophy.

This philosophy states, “The enjoyment and learning in the game of soccer is best demonstrated through maintaining possession of the ball. The end result of being capable to maintain possession is obviously scoring a goal and the only way to do this is to keep the ball and move in a positive direction towards the opponent's goal through a combination of basic individual and team maneuvers.”
