UNBALANCING RUNS

UNBALANCING RUNS

THE GAME: 8 V 8 + 2. Field in thirds.

Players confined to their third unless ball is played into final third, then midfielders can go in to support.

Working on unbalancing runs into the flanks from central parts of the field. 'Up - Back - Wide'.

When ball played out to flank, it must be to a player making a run into that space. The other striker is also encouraged to make an 'inside out' run, and, in fact is preferred, even though the midfielder is shown on the left side.

Emphasis also placed on speed of play. Keeping a rhythm.

The 'unbalancing run' must happen before the pass. Once the pass is made, a defender may be 'released' and go defend in the channel.
