Best way to intro u10 girls to small side soccer
|
My league is new to small side (6v6) soccer, and I am wondering if there are any tips/drills to get my team used to the concept. Ihave not coached in this league for over 5 years, so I may be worried over nothing, but just want to cover my bases. :-)
thanks!

Hi chenthorn,
What do you think about this drill... it's called "A Practice on Small Group Defending":
The Game-
Groups of three; one ball per group. Player A rolls the ball (receiving ground balls) or tosses the ball (receiving air balls) to either player B or player C. In this example, player C must control the ball and get a completed pass to player B. While this is occurring, player A immediately challenges player C and tries to win the ball back. After successful pass, player C would then pick up the ball and repeat the activity as the defender. The defender is awarded a point for winning the ball back and gets to throw again.

Thanks for sharing the drill. That, along with the other drills outlined in the rest of the article, sound like they really work the foot skills in confined areas. I think I will implement them in my upcoming practices.
Anyone have any other tips to share on small side soccer?
