Yes, this is the only SOBO eteamz.com site left -- I sincerely apologize for the disappearance/deletion of the SOBO FOOTBALL and SOBO BASEBALL sites. I'll do what I can for most of the SOBO sports for a site that's really designed for only one sport. Outside of working with Coach Parker on the Boys Basketball team, I'm in strictly archival mode now, so maybe I'll be able to update past season's records, results, and anything else if I somehow ever get a hold of them. Otherwise, the site's home page will have just about everything thing link-wise to keep up with the going-ons in SOBO sports/activities! A SOBO Sports Portal of sorts!

Who is a SOBO?

In the history of South Beloit, a person that lives or resides in South Beloit has been known as a “SOBO”, and the school district has been known as the “Home of the SOBOS”.

The early SOBOS were Indians. One of the earliest tribes who lived in the South Beloit area for a short period, were the Turtle Mound Builders who were primarily farmers and were recognized by others for building their burial mounds in the shape of a turtle. Later, another tribe who resided in South Beloit for many years was the Winnebago. They were primarily hunters, and locally led by a proud warrior known as “TWO FEATHERS”.

The SOBOS were part of the Winnebago Tribe, under the leadership of the Great Chief “Blackhawk”, also known as the “Peacemaker”. The SOBOS made their winter camp on Turtle Creek in the South Beloit area, near where Turtle Creek joins the Rock River on the East Side.

The current residents of South Beloit are very proud to continue the heritage and tradition begun in the early history of South Beloit by the members of the Winnebago Indian Tribe.

South Beloit also host one of the Sectional Rounds that feeds into the NIU-Dekalb Supersectional in their first season in Class 2A for Boys Basketball.

1/23/12: Posted roundups/articles and boxscores for the Pec and Aquin games. Finished up the MLK Tournament section with scores and results.

1/18/12: Posted roundups/articles and boxscores for the MLK games. Will be finishing the MLK section soon. Congrats SOBOS!

1/10/12: Posted roundups/articles for all games and added boxscores for all available games. There's also a BDN article where Coach Borre is featured. Updated schedules with MLK lineup.

Tough start for the young SOBOS with a tough schedule for the opening month. Hang in there SOBOS, and finish the season strong with conference play!
