South Baltimore Little League: Welcome

The History of the South Baltimore Little League (SBLL), established in 1957 and chartered through Williamsport Little League, has provided recreation services for thousands of children aged 4-18 in South Baltimore and surrounding areas for more than five decades. We are a nonprofit 501C3 volunteer organization that operates a Little League Program on East Fort Avenue in the heart of (South) Baltimore City, Maryland.

Our Mission is to instill in the community’s youth the ideals of good sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty, courage, and respect for authority. We want to give today’s youth every opportunity to be well-adjusted, strong and happy children who grow into decent, healthy and trustworthy adults and community leaders. Our intention is to provide a supervised baseball and softball program that supports youth development through positive quality leadership that focuses first and foremost on sportsmanship and team.

Our program is run strickly by volunteers.  We are currently seeking volunteers for managers, coaches, umpires, field maintenance, concession help and fundraising.

Meetings are held on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month at our Fieldhouse at 7pm with exceptions in July (no meetings at all) and in December (only the 1st Wednesday.)

To become a member you must attend a meeting and complete a volunteer form and background check.  We have a board of directors and those positions are voted on in September.  To run for an office or vote you must be a member for 6 months and have attended at least 4 meetings thourghout the year.

Players registration begins in February.  You must be 4 years old by April, 30th.

Try-Outs will be held in March.  Try-Outs are for the sole purpose of balancing player talent on the teams.  Every child who registers to play will be placed on a team.  Every child plays in every game - No one sits the bench for the entire game.

You MUST provide a copy of a birth certificate and 3 proofs of residence when registering.

Our playing season begins in April and runs through June.

There is a fee to play ball with our program.

The fee includes a full uniform (hat, jersey, pants & socks,) insurance, and charted fees.

We supply balls, bats, helmets, and catcher's gear for the players use.  Players must have their own glove and cleats (cleats are optional-tennis shoes may be worn.)

We rely on sponsor's and fundraising to keep the cost as low as possible for player's families.  We own our fields and therefore must maintain them ourselves.
