NORTH CENTRAL TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS!

For the first time since 2007, Snider brought the North Central trophy back to Fort Wayne.  The Panthers offense was unstoppable during the tournment.  In game one, a 12-1 win over North Central, Melissa Creek pitched 5 strong innings allowing 4 hits and one unearned run.  Lindsey Fleming had 3 hits.  Taylor Randall, Emily Vanderford, and Melissa Creek had 2 hits each.  Vanderford's hits were a 2 run double and a 3 run home run for 5 Rbi's in the game.  Creek's 2 hits were both doubles.

In the Championship game, Snider's bats stayed hot.  Emily Vanderford had a double and a grand slam, her 2nd of each for the day.  Lindsey Fleming added 4 more hits, giving her a team leading 20 on the season.  Vanderford now has an unbelievable 24 Rbi's after only 8 games played.  Taylor Randall, Chelsey Hartman, and Melissa Creek added two hits each.  Angelina Aguirre pitched 4 strong innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits.  Melissa Creek picked up her first save of the season, closing out the last three shutout innings.

SNIDER ERRORS LEAD TO SECOND STRAIGHT LOSS

Snider appeared to still be shell shocked from last night's heartbreaking defeat, making mistake after mistake at Leo and falling to the host Lions 3-1.  Snider pounded out 7 hits and limited the Leo ace pitcher Jessica Claxton to only six strikeouts but left baserunners on in 6 of the 7 innnings.  Defensively, Snider allowed 3 unearned runs on only 4 hits.  Chelsey Hartman scattered the 4 hits in 4 different innings but the defense's errors allowed Leo to score a run in 3 of those innings.  Lindsey Fleming had 2 hits and Angelina Aguirre added a double in the loss.

Sunday, April 17
OFFENSE STALLS, PANTHERS BLOW LEAD, GAME

Snider started with a bang on Emily Vanderford's 3 run home run in the bottom of the first to give the Panthers a 4-0 early lead.  Despite being walked 7 times and adding 5 more hits after that at bat, Snider was unable to push another run across the rest of the game.  Meanwhile, Dekalb creeped back into the game with a Kelsey Blevins home run and then an unearned run to make it 4-2 in the 7th.  That is when the Barons made Snider pay for letting them hang around in the game.  Dekalb pounded 4 of their 7 hits in the 7th and took advantage of 2 walks in the inning to take the lead at 5-4.  Snider's attempt at a comeback victory was snagged down on an Angelina Aguirre shot to right field to end the game.

EXCITING COME BACK WIN KEEPS PANTHERS UNDEFEATED!

The Snider Softball Team showed heart and determination today against a pesky Heritage team that took advantage of every Panther miscue.  Finding themselves down 5-4 in the bottom of the 7th inning, even while outhitting their opponent 13 to 7, it was time to show whether they could overcome their mistakes made earlier in the game.  Senior Chelsey Hartman responded with a solo shot over the center field fence that dented the scoreboard and tied the game up at five.  Then in the bottom of the 8th, Junior Emily Vanderford came to the plate with 2 on and 2 out and blasted an impressive walk off, 3 run home run to win the game.  Melissa Creek homered earlier in the game also to highlight a top notch hitting performance by the Panthers.  Lindsey Fleming and Taylor Millar both went 4 for 5.  Vanderford had 4 Rbi's on the night and Hartman added 3.  Amanda Thurston and Lindsey Burke added 2 hits each.
