South Middleton Baseball (SMYBA): Welcome
|
Hello from the SMYBA:
I can’t believe that we in the middle of baseball registration. We have two registration dates left!! It has been way too cold to think about baseball, but it is just around the corner. The Board has been very busy in the off season preparing for another great year. We have new members on our board this year and we appreciate their willingness to give of their time and energy to this great organization. Please remember, we are constantly looking for people who to volunteer to assist us in anyway.
I want to touch on a couple of things this year so you can be informed about what is going on with SMYBA. Our fundraiser this year will be a sandwich sale. At registration we will collect a deposit of $50 for the fundraiser. Each family will have 2 options; you can buy out of the “sale” with a $50.00 payment or sell 25 sandwiches and get your $50 back. We want to encourage everyone to sell the sandwiches. They make great meals for the pre-game and we are going to award prizes for the 3 top sellers. Not only do we want you to sell the sandwiches we want to sell more than the 25 minimum. There will be more details at registration.
In order to keep our facilities at their best, our equipment at its safest, and these are just to name a few, we need your help with the fund raisers. Each year our fields require addition soil. We need additional fencing at our Teener field. We would like to install a batting cage between our Major’s field and our Teener field. We need tarps to reduce the erosion of our soil on the fields. The list goes on and on.
We are planning to schedule games with teams from different Little League organizations in our area to increase our exposure to other programs and players.
We were very successful in the post season last year and we hope to improve on that in 2010. This year we hope to play teams from Carlisle, Chambersburg, Middlesex, Newville and Monroe, time permitting, and we get some cooperation from the weather. We are conducting a mandatory manager’s clinic this year at the school for all mangers. We will get you more information on that later.
I hope to see you all at registration

REMINDER
Baseball skills are developed, and lost, during the off-season. From T-Ball through Teeners, if your player is waiting until the spring to pick up a bat or glove it will be too late. No coach can make a ball player in the 3-4 weeks of practice before the first game. If you are not already doing so, now is the time to get them out throwing a baseball or taking swings. You can bet their competition is.
