CYO Coaching Get Involved!

Our CYO Sports program continues to grow as the SMM Parish Grows. The success of our program depends on the coaches who dedicate their time and talents to our children.

However, with each new school year comes the task of finding and filling coaching positions. To insure we have a sufficient number of coaches, the CYO Board begins the selection process in the Spring for the following school year. The CYO Bylaws require all prospective coaches to submit an application which must be approved by the Board. In the event that more than one individual applies to coach a particular team, a vote is taken at the board's June Meeting. The coaching applications are available on line at www.eteamz.com/smmcyo Kindly click on hand outs to obtain your copy of the application. All coaching applications must be returned by MAY 14, 2008!!

It is not necessary for you to have a child participating in our program to become a coach. We welcome all interested parishioners.

We currently offer the following sports; Cross Country, Varsity and JV Soccer, Varsity and JV Field Hockey, Varsity and JV Volleyball, Varsity and JV Basketball (A and B level), Varsity and JV High School Basketball, Softball, Varsity Baseball, Track, Boys and Girls Lacrosse, High School Volleyball.

St. Mary Magdalen Roman Catholic Church is located in Media, PA. It is part of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Father Ralph Chieffo is our pastor. There are over 1500 families in our faith community. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is offered daily at 8:30 AM. There is a Saturday Vigil Mass at 5:30 PM. Sunday Masses are offered at 7:30, 9:00, 10:30 and Noon. (Our Summer schedule, Memorial Day to Labor Day, is 7:30, 9:30 and 11:30.) The Rectory phone number is (610) 566-8821. The St. Mary Magdalen CYO serves the youth and young adults of the parish. The Mission of CYO Sports is to act as a component of the parish's comprehensive youth ministry program which enables the partnership of parents, coaches, priests, religious, teachers and adult leaders to manage and support a sports program that allows youth to grow in their relationship with God and come to better understand themselves and the Catholic faith. We encourage our volunteers to teach values of faith and character development and to reflect those values in their own actions. At this time, the Fall sport teams planned are Cross Country - boys and girls, grades 2 through 8, Field Hockey - girls, grades 5 through 8, Volleyball - girls, grades 5 through 8, and Soccer - boys and girls, grades 5 through 8. In the Winter, we plan Basketball - boys and girls, grades 5 through 12 and Ice Hockey - boys, grades 5 through 8. Spring teams include Baseball - boys, grades 7 and 8, Track - boys and girls, grades 4 through 8, Golf - boys and girls, grades 4 through 8, Fastpitch Softball - girls, grades 5 and 6 and Lacrosse - girls, grades 6 through 8. All teams are contingent on having an adequate number of players and coaches sign up.
