Tuesday, May 20 CLICK HERE TO VOLUNTEER http://slplittleleague.mystifyyourweb.com
Tuesday, May 20 The Online Volunteer Schedule is now available! Click the above Volunteer Here link. That link will take you to our volunteer schedule site. This site is where all the fun begins. None of you have a PIN (personal identification number) assigned to you. This is the first step. You need to create your PIN first. You will be asked a series of data questions. Please complete only the required fields. With nearly 400 little league families, it is important that we have correct child attached to the correct parent. If Stephanie Meyer was to complete 12 hours of volunteer work, we need to know that Stephanie Meyer is the mother for Nathan Anderson. We wouldn’t automatically know this.
Once the PIN is assigned, you simply use that with your last name and start choosing the opportunities listed. This system will track your hours completed, needed and pending and will send you an email to remind you of your commitment. We have broken your choices into 1 hour segments. We have also created three segments for each time slot. You can work as few as 1 hour a day or try and get all 12 hours in one long weekend. The choice is yours. When looking at the opportunities, you will notice that it is listed in date order. Also, you will see concession 1, concession 2 or Concession 3. We are trying to get three people per shift. You can select any concession option. If the opportunity says Rotary, then you are obviously scheduled for Rotary field. You will be able to schedule your volunteer commitment at 2 AM in your pajamas if you want. You will be able to log on from work and see how many hours you have yet to complete. Currently we have all the opportunities available through June 30. July’s opportunities will be added shortly. Please note, some of you already have completed hours. Some of you have even finished your 12 hours. You still need to register. We will manually add your previously worked hours into the system. Welcome to St. Louis Park Little League Baseball St. Louis Park Little League is a community organization chartered by Little League International. We provide a positive, instructional, community-based baseball experience for boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 12. These programs are guided by a volunteer board of directors and are operated independently from the St. Louis Park Department of Parks and Recreation. Little League baseball has been an important part of the SLP community for over 50 years. Since youngsters at this age develop at different rates, the program is designed to help them learn and improve their skills at their own pace. With this in mind, Little League in St. Louis Park offers the following levels of play: Majors, Minors and AAA (machine-pitch). For more information regarding levels of play, click on the 'Divisions' tab located on the left side menu. Mission Statement St. Louis Park Little League is a non-profit organization run by volunteer parents. Our mission is to provide a safe environment where children can learn and play the game of baseball. We will accomplish this by focusing on player and coach development, providing superior communication, and creating a level playing field where all children can compete and have fun. Philosophy The purpose of Little League is to develop ball players by stressing basic baseball fundamentals and appropriate attitudes towards events on the field and towards team play. Most importantly, Little League should be FUN! The aim is to work towards being a competitive team rather than to win at all costs. Each player, at all levels, will be treated as fairly as possible within the substitution rules of Little League Baseball and in consideration of his/her abilities. Wednesday, February 13 SLPLL HOTLINE (952) 920-2389 Please call the Hotline or email baseball@slplittleleague.com with any of your baseball questions.
Thursday, June 5 Can you go to bat for a SLP Little Leaguer? On March 12, 2007, Tobi Duffy brought her son, Jacob, to the doctor for a sinus infection. The problem turned out to be much more serious. Jacob, 10, was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called ependymoma. Ependymoma is when a tumor grows on the brain stem. The good news is Jacob's cancer has receded and he was able to attend school this year and participate in activities, including playing in SLP Little League. Not everything is back to normal, however. As a result of the cancer and radiation, Jacob lost significant hearing in his left ear and a little in his right. Jacob goes back to the hospital every three months for an MRI and blood tests. With all the time spent at hospitals, medical bills have piled up and the family is nearing the maximum amount their insurance will cover. The Jacob Duffy Foundation was created to assist his family with past and future medical bills. If you would like to donate to the Foundation, you may send you donations to: The Jacob Duffy Foundation, c/o Wells Fargo Bank 5116 Vernon Ave South, Edina, MN 55436
