Team Webmaster Instructions and Rules

The Saddleback Little League Web site has individual sites for each team. You can use your team site to post practice and snack bar schedules, announce team news, share player accomplishments, and even post photos. Here are some examples of team Web sites:

Not a whiz at HTML? No problem. The sites use simple "What You See Is What You Get" editors for entering text.

Here is how you get started in updating your own team Web site:

  1. Sign up for a free eteamz membership, if you don't already have one. (eteamz provides the hosting for our Web site.) Click "Be A Member" on the left side of this page, under the eteamz logo. Fill out the information on the eteamz "Become a Member" page.
  2. Review the Team Site Rules at the bottom of this page. Make sure that you understand and agree to the rules.
  3. E-mail the League Information Officer at info@saddlebackll.com to request to be a team Webmaster. Provide your name, your eteamz user name, and team whose site you are updating. Also let the League Information Officer know that you have read, understood, and agreed to the Team Site Rules on this page. You will receive notification about when you have access.

Now, you're ready to update your team Web site. Here is how you log on:

  1. Go to the site for your team. Click Teams on the left side of the page, then click the link for your team. Teams are listed by division.
  2. Click Admin at the left side of this page. The link is just above the "epointz" logo.
  3. At the "Login to eteamz" page, enter your eteamz user name and password. You will go to the Admin page for your site.

The menu on the left with folders gives you access to features of your site. Here are some basic things you may want to do:

  • Add a practice schedule: Click Schedules, and then click Practices. At the Practices page, click Add Practice and then enter the date, time, and location of the practice. As you define a practice, select Yes for "Add to Home Page" to display the practice on your team home page. Be sure to select No for "Share Practice with other sites in your league/organization."
  • Customize your home page: Click Welcome Mesg. You can change the text the appears above the team logo and select whether schedules and news appear above or below your message and logo. Note that the games for the current week appear automatically on your team home page . You cannot change the game schedule.
  • Add your sponsors: Click Sponsors. You can add full information, including their logo, address, phone number, e-mail address, and Web site.
  • Add news: Click My Site News. (You can change the title of My Site News by clicking Site Appearance and then Labels.)
  • Add photos: Click Albums. A page appears where you can create a photo album with Shutterfly, an online photo Web site affiliated with eteamz. Provide your parents with information about the site. They can then upload their own photos and purchase prints.

If you have any questions about how to use features of your team Web site, click View Admin Manual on the bottom of the menu on the left.

Team Web Site Rules

Team Web sites can keep parents informed and add to your players' enjoyment of the season -- as long as the team site is used in a positive and responsible way. These rules are designed to maintain a positive atmosphere, protect children's privacy, and prevent outages to the League Web site. You must agree to the rules before signing on as a team Webmaster. Violation of these rules can lead to a loss of privileges. Inappropriate content will be removed.

General Guidelines

  • Do not depend on your team Web site as the sole information source for your parents. Not all parents will know when to check the site, and they may not have Web access at home. Send important information through team meetings, phone calls, or e-mail. Use the Web site for reference materials or make announcements that are not time-critical.
  • Remember that information on your team site is visible to anyone anywhere in the world (including your opponents). Do not post personal information, phone numbers and e-mail addresses, team playbooks, or anything you wouldn't want to share with a complete stranger. When in doubt, don't post it.
  • Be a responsible journalist. Be accurate as possible and remember your team Web site is both a news letter and yearbook for the players.
  • If you wish to upload any images or text, make sure that it does not violate copyright or trademarks.
  • Team sites will be deactivated after the season ends. If there is any content that you want to save as a keepsake for the season, copy it into a separate document. If you open a Shutterfly site, it will stay open as long as you wish.

Limitations to Your Access

  • You only have access to the site for your team. You cannot change sites for other teams or the League Web site.
  • You cannot enter scores. The winning manager must e-mail the scores to the League Information Officer as indicated in the Volunteer Guide.

Protecting Children's Privacy

  • Ask parents' permission before posting their child's name or photo on the Web site.
  • Never use a player's full name on the Web site. Only use whatever part of the name appears on the child's jersey. Usually this is the child's last name, but if a first name or nickname appears on the jersey, use that instead. (If you provide a first name, people can deduce the player's full name by looking at the last name on the jersey.) Correct: "Ruth hit his first home run today." Incorrect: "Babe Ruth hit his first home run."

Maintaining a Positive Atmosphere

  • Always be positive in your depiction of games, people, and League activities.
  • Never criticize any player, manager, coach, opponent, umpire, League official, or anyone at all. This is all about fun and everyone is a volunteer.
  • Never use offensive or vulgar language. This is a family Web site.
  • Never post any content which is directly or indirectly related to race, gender, ethnicity, religion, political viewpoint, or sexual orientation.
  • Never alter any pages outside the boundaries of your own team's Web site.
  • Never change game schedules or input game scores.
  • Never post player statistics on the website (example. batting average, etc...). This is a direct violation of Little League rules.
If you have any questions, contact the League Information Officer (info@saddlebackll.com) or the League Secretary (secretary@saddlebackll.com). Have fun with your team Web site.
