Saddleback Little League: 2010 Spring Divisions

Ice Cream League
Age 4 as of April 30, 2010

Tee Ball
Ages 5-6 as of April 30, 2010

Player ages 5 to 6 are assigned to Tee Ball, where players have fun learning the fundamentals of the game. No scores are kept, so each team wins every game. Tee Ball teams practice one afternoon per week and play two games a week.


A
Ages 7-8 as of April 30, 2010

Players age 7 and 8 continue learning fundamentals, improving skills and gaining a better understanding of baseball. A rules allow 10 players on the defense field at a time. All players play infield and outfield and all players bat. Pitching is by machine, which can be adjusted for each player’s strike zone. No scores or standings are kept. A teams practice at least once per week. There are two games a week.



AA
Ages 9-11 as of April 30, 2010

Player ages 9 through 11 continue learning fundamentals, improving skills and gaining a better understanding of baseball. The first level of live pitching AA is primarily instructional and although scores and standings are kept, the emphasis is still on all players playing equally. Each player will play a minimum three innings. Teams bat through the entire team all season. There is a simple post season tournament for 3rd place but no other post season play. Pitchers are limited to 2 innings pitched per game and cannot pitch on consecutive days.




AAA
Ages 9-12 as of April 30, 2010

Player ages 9 through 12 who demonstrate more advanced skills, coordination and understanding of the game are drafted into the AAA Division. This division uses most Little League rules. While more competitive this is still a instructional division. Players improve fundamental fielding, throwing, hitting, running and pitching skills and develop the teamwork needed to win games. There are two games per week and one or two practices per week. Two Teams will participate in a post season District Tournament and one All Star Teams will be chosen after the regular season ends.



Majors
Ages 10 - 12 as of April 30, 2010
(Limit one 10 year old per team)

Player ages 10 through 12 who demonstrate the highest level of skill, coordination and understanding of the game during try-outs are placed on a draft list as possible Majors Division players. Managers of the Majors teams meet and draft players from this list. Majors players “fine tune” fielding, throwing, hitting, running and pitching skills in competitive play. There are two games a week and one to three practices per week. Two Teams will participate in a post season District Tournament and one All Star Team will be chosen after the regular season ends.


Juniors
Ages 13 - 14 as of April 30, 2010

The Junior division will play on a regulation size baseball field (60' 6" to mound and 90 ft base paths) and will play under regulation baseball rules. Players will learn to lead off, use big barrel bats and are permitted to wear steal spikes. The coach’s will continue Saddleback Little League's program of fundamentals development, but at the high school level. Tryouts are required for Juniors team selection.


Seniors
Ages 15-16 as of April 30, 2010

Competitive division for players who do not play high school ball. Teams play against other leagues. The top teams compete in the Tournament of Champions. The best players are selected to play in the Seniors All-Star team, which can advance to competing in the Little League World Series.


Big League
Ages 17-18 as of April 30, 2010

Advanced competitive division for players who do not play high school ball. Teams play against other leagues. The top teams compete in the Tournament of Champions. The best players are selected to play in the Seniors All-Star team, which can advance to competing in the Little League World Series.
