Sliderz History
Winter 1997 – Winter 1998
The Sliderz began as a 12&U team who played in the 1997 ASA winter league hosted by the Burbank (CA) Parks and Recreation. The players came from parks and rec and Little League teams dissatisfied with the level of competition. As a first year team, the Sliderz won both the 12&u league and the league-end tournament. As a result of their early success, the Sliderz transitioned into a travelball team. They won their first tournament as a travelball team by going undefeated in the Snowball Classic hosted in Lancaster, CA. Ultimately, the first year on the tournament trail proved very successful for the Sliderz. Through a total of 109 games, the Sliderz won 85, as well as finishing 2nd in the AFA State Championship Tournament and in the top ten at the AFA National Championships, held in Oklahoma City, OK, July 1998. The Sliderz finished their first year as a 12&U team by playing “up” in the 1998 14&U Burbank ASA Winter League. Once again, the Sliderz dominated the league, winning it with a record of 18-2.

Spring 1999 – Winter 1999
The spring season of 1999 transitioned the Sliderz into a 14&U ASA registered travel team and initiated a new 12&U team as well. The Sliderz Girls Softball Association was formed as a non-profit organization in support of the Sliderz teams. Both teams carried on the Sliderz’ tradition of excellence by boasting impressive win-loss records. The 14&U Sliderz swept the 1999 Norco, CA, Winter Showdown Tournament by going undefeated in six games and were featured in the April 1999 edition of “Travelball Magazine.”

Summer/Fall '99
The summer of ’99 brought more success as the Sliderz went 7-0-0 in the AAU 14&u National Championships held in Orlando. FL, July 17 to 23.

At the 1999 AFA Thanksgiving Shoot Out Tournament held at Village Park in Fontana, California the Sliderz rack up a First Place Finish with a record of 7-0.

In the 1999 Burbank, CA ASA Winter Softball League, the Sliderz played in the 16-u division and finished 2nd (18 teams total), with a record of 14-3.

Spring/Summer 2000
Playing back at 14-u the Sliderz garner a First Place Finish in the 14U Tuff-E-Nuff Pre-Super Bowl Tournament held January 22-23, 2000 in Cypress, California with a record 6-0-0. Their most impressive tournament win came in the Milwaukee ASA National qualifier. Sliderz came out of the losers bracket to win 6 in a row on Sunday and win the tournament, and a birth at ASA Nationals. Sliderz traveled to Panama City Florida for the "big dance", the ASA Nationals, and tied for 17th.

Spring/Summer 2001
Sliderz moved to 16U, and opened the post High School season by winning the 18U Ventura AFA Qualifier tournament. Sliderz closed out the summer 2001 season by making it to the finals of the 18U AFA International Friendship Tournament.

Fall 2001
Sliderz moved up to 18U and opened the fall season by winning the 18U Las Vegas Southwest Showdown. In October, an impressive showing at the Lancaster Oktoberfest Showcase brought Sliderz a favorable review on SpySoftball.Com, and invitations to more of the elite 18U/18G showcase tournaments.
