Tryout Information

2009 Baseball and Softball Tryout Information:

**If you missed registration you can still register at tryouts, for registration information click here.

All Tryouts will be held at The Players Club in Monroe on Saturday January 31st and Saturday February 7th from 9AM – 4PM, Click Here for driving directions. Players trying out must attend at least one tryout date. Please bring a mitt and be prepared to play baseball/softball. Times that are scheduled for each league and age group will be the same for both dates.

NO CLEATS, TENNIS SHOES ONLY!!!

All players must have a tryout number, show up 15-30 mins prior to your scheduled time to obtain yours.

All 8 year olds MUST try-out for (Single A) 8 year olds may also tryout for Minors if so desired. A few 8 year olds may be drafted to Minors based on their Try-out only and overall ability.

Any 10yr old that wants to be considered for the Minors or Majors baseball divisions MUST tryout for the Minors and Majors divisions, otherwise that player will only be eligible for the Minors division. (Example: If the 10yr wants to play in the Minors division, that player MUST tryout for only the Minors divisions. If the 10yr wants to play in the Majors division, that player MUST tryout for both the Minors and Majors divisions.)

***All players eligible to play Single A and Minors divisions, including prospective coaches child(ren) must attend at least one tryout.

Players who played in the Majors, Juniors and Seniors baseball/softball divisions last year who are returning to play in the same division for the Spring 2009 Season are not required to tryout if they want to remain on the same team as last year. If the returning player decides to tryout they must re-enter the draft. (Examples: 1. If the returning player played in the Majors division last year and will play in the Majors division this year, that player is not required to attend tryouts. If they decide to tryout that player must re-enter the draft. 2. If the returning player played in the Majors division last year and is moving up to the Juniors division, that player must attend one of the tryout dates).

Boys Baseball:
9-12 Yr Olds (Minors & Majors) - 9AM - Noon

7-8 Yr Olds (Single A) - Noon - 4PM

13-16 Yr Olds (Jr/Sr) - Held Separately Sat 2/28/09 - Time: TBD

Girls Fast-Pitch Softball:
7-10 Yr Olds - 4PM - 6PM

11-12 Yr Olds - 4PM - 6PM

13-16 Yr Olds - 4PM - 6PM

*Note: Times may vary based on the number of participants for each group. 13-16 Yr Olds (Jr/Sr) will be held separately on Sat 2/28/09 (Times still to be determined) due to HS tryouts.

Tryouts generally include but are not limited to:

Hitting
Throwing/Pitching
Catching/Fielding
Base Running
Fly Balls

*Note: Sky Valley Little League tryouts are administered by the Managers and Coaches of each league and age group who will determine what skills they may want to see during the tryouts.



2009 Bearcats Fast-Pitch Softball Camp

The second annual Bearcats Softball Camp is presented and run by the Monroe High School Softball Bearcats players and coaches each year and is designed for female athletes grades K-6 who are interested in instruction geared toward the proper fundamentals of fastpitch softball. Camp contents will contain fundamental skill development and drills pertaining to windmill pitching, catching, throwing, hitting, fielding, base running, sliding and catcher techniques. Groups and instruction will be based on age, grade and ability level. This is a great opportunity for an entire team to participate as well as any girl aspiring to learn the game of Fast-Pitch Softball.

Date & Time: Saturday March 28, 2009, 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM
Location: Monroe High School Gym – 17001 Tester Road, Monroe WA 98272
What To Bring: Shoes for indoor use (No Cleats) a glove, bat and helmet optional (please make sure your equipment is marked with your name)
Cost: $30 and includes a camp T-Shirt.


****All participates must register no later than March 19, 2009.****

***New for 2009: Sky Valley Little League has combined the AA and AAA divisions into the Minors division. Online registrations are for ONLY those members returning from the 2008 Season. All new members must register in person during one of the registration dates. All registration dates will be held at Park Place Middle School in the Commons.

Sky Valley Little League offers the following:
(A Player must be 5 years old by April 30, 2009 to be eligible to play T-ball and Baseball and December 31 of the previous year for Girls Fast-Pitch Softball.)

Age    5-6          $ 35 + $ 25 = $ 60
Age    7-8          $ 80 + $ 25 = $105
Age   9-12         $ 90 + $ 25 = $115
Age 13-16         $100 + $ 25 = $125
Age 17-18         $210 + $ 25 = $235

$5 discount for 2nd family member, $240 ceiling for registration fees only per family.


***Note: A $10 late fee will be charged for any registration made after the final walk-in registration date.

Sky Valley Little League Fundrasing Information 2009:
Sky Valley Little League will be having our 6th annual gift basket fundraiser to help raise money to support our Little League. Each team will be responsible for assembling a gift basket. A drawing will be held to determine the winner of each team’s basket.

All players will participate in the fundraiser by donating an item to the team basket and will receive 25 raffle tickets. Fundraiser money ($25) will be collected at registration. Tickets can then be sold for $1 with the players retaining the proceeds.

2008 Sky Valley Little League All-Star Information:

11yr Old Fast-Pitch Softball All-Stars Finish Second in the 2008 State Championship:
After losing the first game of the State Tournament, Sky Valley fought hard by winning each game they played in the losers bracket giving them an opportunity to play for the 2008 WA State Championship on Thursday July 24th. Sky Valley fell short by losing to Bellevue by a score of 9-4 and leaving Sky Valley with a second place finish. Great Job Team!!!

CONGRATULATIONS ON FINISHING SECOND AT STATE!!!

2009 First Aid Training Information

2009 Managers/Coaches First Aid & CPR Training:
Sky Valley Little League encourages All managers and coaches to attend a First Aid Training to ensure the safety of the children in our programs. This year Sky Valley Little League is recommending that each manager/coach attends the First Aid and CPR class that is Provided by Monroe Fire District # 3 and the American Heart Association and are held on the second Saturday of each month from 9AM - 4PM at the Monroe Fire District #3 Headquarters, Fire Station 31, 163 Village Court, Monroe, WA. The class utilizes the American Heart Association's Heart Saver First Aid with CPR an AED Training curriculum and teaches students how to recognize and treat life-threatening emergencies until medical help arrives. Students who successfully complete the class receive a 2-year certification card for First Aid, CPR, and Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) Training. Pre-registration and the pre-payment of $30 are required prior to attending the class and Sky Valley Little League Will Reimburse the registration fee to each manager/coach that attends this training. To receive your First-Aid training reimbursement contact our Safety Officer.
