Boys Program Information

Our Boys Program
All interested players are welcome at Skyline Lacrosse, with or without experience. The regular season for Lacrosse is in the Spring. We offer Fall Ball as an opportunity for both new and experienced players to learn and improve upon their skills with our outstanding coaching staff. Spring Season provides practices and competition between Skyline and other Bay Area lacrosse clubs. All players are expected to
take personal responsibility for their equipment and attitude. They will learn about the different concepts of Lacrosse and what the basics of field vision are. They are expected to respond agreeably to coaches’ and referees’ decisions, and support their older or younger teammates.Lacrosse is a very fast-paced game and can be an exhilarating and intense experience.  Players who enjoy lacrosse are those with a strong desire to compete and push themselves.  Prior team sports experience is helpful, but not necessary.  Our coaches can teach skills, knowledge, rules and roles of the game, strategies and sportsmanship.  We will help players with their strength and conditioning.  However, we cannot coach desire. Players who are disinterested or not self-motivated can struggle with the rigors of the game.  We expect parents and players to consider this when deciding if lacrosse is a good fit for their kids or themselves.

Lightning U11 ProgramThe U11 teams are primarily comprised of 3rd to 5th graders in a developmental environment. The focus for all players and coaches will be on learning the skills and sportsmanship necessary to enjoy and succeed in the sport of lacrosse.  Boys will share playing time, and play all positions on the field.

If your son is in 2nd grade please email us at skylinelacrosseclub@gmail.com for additional information.

Juniors U13 Program The U13 teams are a second level organization comprised of 5th to 7th graders.  The focus will be to learn more about different strategies of Lacrosse and what the basics of field vision are. Boys will share and earn playing time, play all positions on the field, and begin to find the position that each enjoys playing best.

Seniors U15 Program
Participation on the U15 team requires attendance at least 1 evaluation date and the player's commitment to participate in the Spring Break travel trip (tentatively scheduled for the second or third weekend in April).  Participation in additional evaluation dates is recommended to allow the best opportunity for player specific instruction.

The U15 teams are a third level organization comprised of 7th and 8th graders.  The focus for all players and coaches will be to continue growing the skills and sportsmanship necessary to succeed in the sport of lacrosse at the high school level.  Boys will earn playing time through both skill and attendance, play their respective positions, learn more of the complex concepts of Lacrosse and continue to grow their field vision.

Age based teams are determined by your child’s age as of 12/31/2008. i.e. To play on the Juniors Boys team your son must not yet be 13 on 12/31/2008.  The NCJLA will continue to have A, B and C Divisions within each age group and we may field more than one team in some age groups.

Junior Boys Red bring home the NCJLA Championship Title

Congratulations to Coach Dede Szykier and the Junior Red team on their amazing undefeated 17-0 season. On June 1st 2008, they had the fight of their season in the morning against the South Bay Crusaders, coming from behind they won their semi final game 7-6 to advance to the championship game against Stuart Hall.

At 1:30pm they took the field ready to go to work and bring the title home. They cruised through the game as the team they had been all season. The final score was 10-6. Good luck to all of the players on the Junior Boys Red team next year at their respective schools. We will be sending players on to play for Piedmont, Berkeley, Bishop O'Dowd, Saint Ignatius, Georgetown Prep, and Skyline's revival of the high school club team. Stayed tune for more information on our high school team.

Pups White Win Bronze Medal at 2008 NCJLA Championships
In their first trip to the Nor-Cal Championship Playoffs, the Pups took home the BRONZE Medal after an undefeated regular season. In the first game of the day, the Pups battled with the South Bay Crusaders, who they beat during the regular season 4-2, in a thrilling game that ended with the Crusaders winning 5-4. The Skyline Pups put forth a great effort and came very close to tying the score on three distinct occasions in the final minutes. The entire Pups team played overall a very strong game against a very skilled team.  In their second playoff game, with the Bronze medal on the table, the Pups were fired up and with an early morning loss and were ready to show why they were undefeated during the season. The Pups played tough, hard and strong. Every player in every position contributed to this nail biting success. This was another hard fought battle against the only team that had bit the Pups this season, prior to that morning, although in a friendly game. The two teams exchanged goals throughout the game but the Pups stayed poised and under control even against a team that was definitely more physically aggressive. Skyline played solid defense and offense as a team; players executed their plays and defensive strategies and played amazingly well. This is a clear reflection of the effort and leadership provided by the Pups' coaches: Carlton Chan and Daniel Fineman. Overall these two championship games spoke to the three biggest traits of the Skyline Pups White team: Heart, Teamwork and Great Coaching.
