Coach Bios

We have a great group of coaches at Skagit Volleyball Club this year!  Check out their coaching bios below!  We like to pair multiple coaches for each team to provide better individual instruction and flexibility.

U18: Sarah and John Moore

Sarah and John will be coaching their fourth year for Skagit this year.  Sarah started playing volleyball in the fourth grade and played at Amarillo High School in Texas and also for the Amarillo Volleyball Club.  She coached three years of club ball at Amarillo and took her U13 team to Nationals.  She also ran regular setter clinics for middle and high school girls. 

U15: Debbie and Charlie Guildner

Debbie played volleyball at Portland Lutheran High School and Pacific Lutheran University.  She started coaching in the 1980’s as head coach for Sno-King Lutheran High School in Edmonds where she was the Sea-Tac league coach of the year in 1986.  She began coaching at Mount Vernon High School in 1995 where she served 6 years as the Junior Varsity coach and then 7 years as head coach.  While she was the head coach her teams went a combined 75-45 with five WESCO and NWL district appearances and one state tournament appearance.  She has coached club teams for Skagit at all age levels.  Debbie is a Kindergarten teacher at Washington School in Mount Vernon.

Charlie started the Skagit Volleyball Club in 1996 to help support playing opportunities for students at LaVenture Middle School.  Over the 15 years since he has coached all age levels.  He was head coach at Mount Vernon Christian High School in 1998 and 1999 and was named NW League coach of the year in 1999.  In 2000, while travelling with family and living in New Zealand, he got the opportunity to serve as Assistant Head Coach for the Tauranga Girls College in Tauranga New Zealand and place in the top ten at the New Zealand National Championships.  He also served for six years as a varsity assistant for Mount Vernon High School.  Charlie is an executive with Peoples Bank and also served 7 years on the Mount Vernon School Board.

U14: Tamara Jansen and Jessica Morrison

Tamara is in her second year coaching for Skagit having had a great season last year coaching U14.  She played at Stanwood High School and also played for Skagit Volleyball Club.  Tamara graduated from Western Washington University last year after founding the WWU women's club volleyball team, and will also be the tournament coordinator for this year’s Tulip Festival Tournament.

Jessica has been playing volleyball since 5th grade.  She was an outside hitter for Snohomish High School and played club ball for Northshore Juniors.  She was a founder and coach of the Western Washington University womens club team.  She has coached Boys and Girls club and last year coached U-16 for Whatcom Volleyball Club.

U13: Stephanie Morrell and Kristin Hill

Stephanie is Back!  Stephanie coached U16 and U17 at Skagit in 2007 and 2008.  She was a three year varsity setter and team captain at East Valley High School and played club volleyball for Team Yakima and the Cascade Volleyball Club.  She also coached U18 at SIVA in 2009 and was a camp coach at the 2009 NBC Volleyball Camp in Spokane.
Kristin is a 2009 Mount Vernon High School graduate who lettered in volleyball for 3 seasons there while also being a very accomplished member of numerous MVHS choirs.  Kristin began playing for Skagit Volleyball club at a 7th grader, and played all the way through her high school career.  Kristin was lucky enough to play on two teams coached by Stephanie, and is now very excited to be coaching WITH Stephanie!
