San Jose Women's Softball League: Team Managers Here
*Team Manager Information
This section is to be used to provide Team Managers with useful information. If you have suggestions for content please email sjwslsecretary@gmail.com
Player Requirements
For a participant to be considered a legal player three things need to happen.
- Team manager notified the league that a particular player is rostered to her team. This can be done during the initial team registration. Changes (additions/deletions) to the team roster should be emailed to the league at sjwslsecretary@gmail.com.
- Player must complete and submit an online Participant Waiver prior to any activity with the team.
- Player must manually complete and sign a venue roster at the field prior to play.
Waivers
Participant Waiver:
The online Participant Waiver (PW) is available on the Eteamz website or by request to the league Secretary. Submitted waivers are automatically stored and are date and time stamped. Players may access the Participant Waiver on the How to Sign Up link at www.sjwsoftball.org.
A participant may only be rostered to one team, and thereby submit only one active waiver per season. If the team affiliation changes, a new waiver is required. The most current waiver will be considered active.
The Participant Waiver is required for players rostered to a team. Separate waivers are required for Play Days and Skills Clinics participation. Submission of a PW does not waive, change, or modify the requirement of invidual online registration for other events.
Play Days Registration (Waiver):
Prior to being rostered to a team, a player may choose to participate in Play Days. Separate online registration/waiver is required for each Play Day event attended. Play Day Registration can be found at the How to Sign Up link. Submission of a PW noted above is not required for Play Day participation. The PW is completed once rostered to a team.
Skills Clinic Registration (Waiver):
Skills clinics are open to any interested female, 18 years or older. Separate online registration/waiver is required for each Skills Clinic event attended. Skills Clinic Registration can be found at the Skills Clinic link. Submission of a PW noted above is not requried for Skills Clinic participation.
Rosters:
League roster:
This is created during the team registration process. Since the forms are received automatically, any changes, including additions or deletions, must be emailed to the league secretary prior to their participation (insurance reasons). This roster is used to verify league Participant Waivers on file.
City roster:
The City of San Jose roster is a two-part form that must be completed manually. They are located in the score booth at the field where your first game of the season is played. Each league rostered player must also sign the City roster. If this does not occur, the player may be disqualified from play.
Volunteers
As a volunteer-run league your assistance is needed to encourage your players to sign up early. The main venues for team volunteers are Play Days, Skills Clinics, Pride activities, fundraisers, and league events. Only participants who volunteer in advance and are confirmed by the activity coordinator will receive team credit for their service.
Online pre-registration for volunteers is required. Volunteers will need to submit a separate registration form for each event where they are volunteering. Online registration is available at the Team Volunteers link.
Once the season's teams registrations are confirmed, team managers will be given access to see who has volunteered for each event and how many volunteer hours their team has accumulated.

*ASANA World Series Information
The Gay World Series (GWS) Softball Tournament is presented by the Allied Sports Alliance of North America (ASANA) and held in a different host city each year. The ASANA GWS is the largest annual gay sporting event in the world! Aside from softball, there are other events such as a talent show, opening and closing ceremonies, pub-crawls and some. It’s a whole week of fun.
The main advantage of declaring your team’s intent to seek a berth to the GWS by the given deadline is that it gives your team priority over any other teams who may finish well enough in League to win a berth, THEN decide “what the heck, let’s go to the GWS,” but had not previously planned on going or declared themselves to be berth-seeking. The purpose of this is to REWARD the teams that strive and plan ahead, and so that, whenever possible, they can book travel well enough in advance to do so at lower rates. We also want to see the limited number of berths that our League is allotted go to the teams who are truly the most excited about the opportunity.
Available berths will be distributed evenly among all divisions when possible. In the event that the number of berths doesn’t match evenly with the number of divisions, and there are more berth-seeking teams than there are berths, then, after the first berths are awarded, any “odd” berth(s) will go to the contending, declared berth-seeking team(s) with the next-highest win percentage after playoffs. If still tied, then see the Section of the Code that outlines the other contingencies (playoff placement, run differential, etc.) Please contact the League Commissioner at commissioner@sjwsoftball.org with any questions or concerns.
To participate in the ASANA World Series a team must earn a berth from an eligble league. To be considered for a berth in the San Jose Women's Softball League, each interested team must submit a SJWSL Team Berth-Seeking Declaration during the spring season and a non-refundable $100 GWS entry fee prior to the date and time indicated in the league calendar.

*SJWSL Non-Approved Bat List
SJWSL has adopted the ASA Non-Approved Bat list.
If you feel the umpire has allowed a bat on the list, immediately register a protest with the scorekeeper after the umpire's ruling, but continue play without interruption.
The protest will be investigated. Strict penalties apply for the use of illegal bats. Please review league documents for details.
