VIPERS Qualify for the AAU Nationals!
Click the headline for more...This weekend the VIPERS qualified for the AAU Nationals. They earned the top overall seed by going 4-0 in the tournament.

On Saturday morning the VIPERS defeated the Norcal Cardinal team by a score of 6-1. Pitching for the VIPERS were Jeff Bowler and Danny Dyer. Catching for the VIPERS was Tommy Medica. In the VIPERS half of the 1st they scored 2 runs on a pair of doubles by Jimmy Parque and Tommy Medica. Kyle Bellows led off the 2nd with a double to left. TJ DeAngelis brought in Kyle with a triple and Jeff Bowler followed with and RBI base hit. The VIPERS scoring continued in the 3rd with base hits from Jon Karcich and Kyle Mosbrucker. TJ DeAngelis brought them in with a base hit of his own. The score after 3 was VIPERS 6 - Norcal Cardinal 0. After a scoreless 4th the VIPERS bats once again produced a run in the 5th. Kyle Bellows had a double, while David Gonzales and Jimmy Parque had base hits. The score after 5 was 7-2 VIPERS. Danny Dyer came in to pitch for the VIPERS in the 6th. While the VIPERS added another run on a walk and a double by Kyle Mosbrucker. Final score VIPERS 8 - Norcal Cardinal 2.

Saturday afternoon the VIPERS bats were hot. Literally! With the temperature in the 90's they tallied 18 runs in the 5 inning game. Pitching for the VIPERS were Danny Dyer(4 innings) and David Abraham(1 inning). Catching for the VIPERS were Tommy Medica and Jon Karcich. After a scoreless first the VIPERS opened up a 6 run lead in the 2nd. Kyle Bellows led off with a double. He was followed by TJ DeAngelis with a double. Jeff Bowler brought in TJ with a triple he crushed to centerfield. David Gonzales, Tommy Medica and Kyle Mosbrucker all had base hits in the inning. In the 3rd the VIPERS rallied to score 8 runs. TJ DeAngelis led off with a double. Jeff Bowler followed with a triple. David Gonzales and David Abraham followed with base hits. Tommy Medica was hit by a pitch and Kevin Connolly brought in a run with a base hit. Kyle Mosbrucker had a base hit and Thomas DeAngelis then hit his 3rd double of the day. The VIPERS finished off the scoring in the 4th. David Abraham had a base hit. Tommy Medica followed with a double. Jon Karcich drew a walk and Kyle Mosbrucker brought them all in with a monster homerun to leftfield. The final score after 5 was 18-3 VIPERS.

Sunday morning the VIPERS took on the Pioneer Baseball Club. Pitching the shutout for the VIPERS were Jimmy Parque(6 innings) and Jon Karcich(1 inning). Catching for the VIPERS was Tommy Medica. The VIPERS finally broke through in the bottom of the 4th. Tommy Medica drew a walk. After a base hit by Kyle Mosbrucker, Jon Karcich stepped in an hit a clutch 2 out double to put the VIPERS up 1-0. Jeff Bowler, David Abraham and Jimmy Parque combine for another VIPERS run in the 5th. Jimmy Parque squashed several Pioneer rallies by getting the big K when needed. After ending the 6th with a big out, the VIPERS rallied behind Parque's pitching performance and scored 3 runs in their half of the inning. Bunts by Kyle Mosbrucker, Kyle Bellows and Jon Karcich were followed by base hits from TJ DeAngelis and David Abraham. "Jon-ney K" finished off the Pioneer Club with a 1-2-3 inning! Final score was 5-0 VIPERS.

Sunday afternoon, the VIPERS took on the Oakland Oaks. Pitching a complete game for the VIPERS was Kyle Mosbrucker. Catching the complete game was Tommy Medica. The VIPERS scored 4 runs, quickly in the bottom of the 1st on base hits by David Abraham, Jimmy Parque, Kyle Mosbrucker, Kyle Bellows and Jeff Bowler. Tommy Medica had a base hit in the 2nd but the VIPERS did not score him. Doubles by Bellows and Bowler added a run for the VIPERS in the 3rd. That was the end of the VIPERS scoring. In the 5th, Danny Dyer had a base hit but did not score. In the 6th, David Gonzales had a base hit but did not score. The final score was 5-1 VIPERS.

After the Sunday Oaks game the VIPERS were given the "Gold" or golden ticket. They finished the tournament as the top seed in both pools and will now go on to the AAU Nationals at the end of July!
