Vipers take 2nd Place in Elk Grove Invitational
The San Jose Vipers took home 2nd place in the 1st Annual Elk Grove Blue Sox Invitational last weekend. Battling the elements became par for the course with sustained winds of up to 40mph the norm. Suggestions were cordially made to rename it the 1st Annual Cyclone Tournament. While players routinely chased their hats to the centerfield fence, fans used cardboard and plywood for wind blocks. Teams participating were the San Jose Vipers, Folsom Flames, Natomas Tribe, East Stanislaus Baseball, StarMaker Magic, California Connextion, the Belmont Bulldogs and the Paradise Nuggetts....


VIPER highlights include:
GAME 1
- Josh Isais with 2 big base hits
- Jon Rymer laid down a great bunt
- Pitching for the Vipers were Yasser Clor and Nate Garcia

GAME 2
- Pitching for the Vipers were Dan Dyer and Kyle Mosbrucker
- Josh Isais had 2 terrific plays at 1st base
- in the bottom of the 3rd the Vipers scored 6 runs on 2 walks, 2 hit by pitch, a sacrafice bunt by Tommy Medica and RBI base hits by Dan Dyer and Nate Garica. While three Vipers stole home in the inning.
- The Vipers tallied 5 additional runs in the bottom of the 4th. Tommy Medica had a base hit. Two walks were issued followed by a 2RBI triple from Kyle Mosbrucker. Yasser Clor and David Gonzales followed with RBI base hits.
- Tommy Medica threw out a runner attempting to steal 2nd base in the bottom of the 5th   
- Dan Dyer put an end to the game with a shot to the wall in left. The ball rolled under a tree for an RBI ground rule triple.

GAME 3
- Nate Garcia did an awesome job pitching a complete game, 7 innings in the wind
- Tommy Medica caught a line drive at 1st base and doubled the runner off for a double play.
- the Vipers infield turned two 6-4-3 double plays
- David Gonzales threw out a runner attempting to steal 2nd base
- David Abraham had an RBI single and a drew 2 walks
- Tommy Medica and Mitch Yanez had base hits
- Yasser Clor and David Gonzales had RBI's
- Nate Garcia had 2 RBI's and a base hit
- Josh Isais had a 2RBI base hit and a double
- Kyle Mosbrucker had a base hit and a triple
- Dan Dyer had a 2RBI double

GAME 4
- Another close game
- A Vipers vs. Belmont battle to the bottom of the 7th inning
- Terrific pitching from Josh Isais and Yasser Clor
- Josh got 3 huge K's with bases loaded to keep Belmont from breaking the game open
- Mitch Yanez had a nice bunt
- Tommy Medica threw out a runner attempting to steal 2nd base
- David Abraham had a triple and a base hit
- David Gonzales crushed a triple to centerfield
- Dan Dyer drove in the winning run in the bottom of the 7th with an RBI base hit
